The initial model was the G55/0 which held a 20mm MG 151 cannon and (4) 12.7mm Breda SAFAT machine guns. The "O" model was succeeded by the "I" model which held three 20mm MG151's and two Breda SAFAT machine guns. Other models developed based on the G55 which were the G55/II with 5 20mm cannons and the G55/S Torpedo Fighter, which carried one 2,176 lb Whitehead fiume torpedo beneath the fuselage. Both of these variations of the G55 flew in 1944. I believe the g55 had stronger air frame and better handling characteristics at medium speeds slightly higher load capacity, more ammo capacity 250 instead of 200 rounds of 20mm. The G55 was scheduled to be built as a replacement for the 109 and plans were made to reduce the production times. There was extensive testing and evaluation by the Germans in Germany and Italy. Favorable comparisons were made against the 109 and Spitfires.
well, ok. not about belief. why? the only thing i know that centauro has 21.1m² wing, and veltro 16.8m² with comparable flight weight. because of higher wing load veltro has somehow higher top speed of 642 klicks vs centauro's 630. engine is the same. DB 605 A-1, very probably 1.30 ata. erm... you mean 2x150kgGPB? veltro lacks bombs? afaik veltro has 250 rounds per each mg 151 gun replacement?! may be in RA fighter role, not LW? they tested even MS.406 which format do you have these reports in? if electronic, can we discuss sending them?
well, with this not quite big difference in FM and with HUGE difference in GM (veltro is slightly modified folgore, centauro is hardly modified folgore) fh preferred to model veltro.

It did carry 250 rounds of 20mm, in the nose gun at least. I said "believe" as I do not have the facts before me as I was writng. this isnt the first time looseleaf (and friends) have argued ammo load if u remember it had something to do with the p-39/p-63
imho with current level of developers' resources, centauro has too low (uniqueness+urge)/work ratio to be worth modelling. do 217e3 and j2m3 has higher but still marginal ratio, so we wait them to be designed and modelled for fhl version. ki-45 kai-b has enough high ratio too.
Please explain that ratio further. It sounds like you are saying that it's too much work for the interest? The interest of the players or the interest of the workers? Are you saying the do217e3/j2m3 are more interesting or are easier to model? When was the last survey of the players? What about if people volunteer to help with the modeling? Did you read that "Project G55" link? They did a version for Microsoft flight sim. IMHO do217e3 and j2m3 really would not be anywhere near the top of the list of FM to add to the plane set. B26, He111, Ar232/234, Me163,P63,P61,Caproni trimotor and/or floatplane would come to mind first. If it's a matter of the least amount of work then why not have the armament variations available for some of the planes? Single 50mm on the 262, four cannon biplane, four cannon F4U, air to air acoustic missle used by the 190, 3cannon 190..... (twin 37mm on stuka?) or even skin options? Way back in the old days some guys had written shareware editors for SWOTL and the Doom games (there was even a "marine1.wad" written by the US Marine Corp!). I remember guys were sharing their versions of optional planes and even night scenarios for SWOTL. Making your own versions of Doom was actually rather fun. I suppose we will never see that availability for the FH game.

Well, I do not fly gold anyway, as I said it would be good for a change. I jsut got tired of seeing the same old "uber" planes over and over.
