OK People..... What's your opinion on Bush visiting South America? Did anyone of you take part in the protests?
Protest is not good anymore. The last timea a protest worked here tooke alt the corrupto president. Now protest is only now to apear on TV, like they if they mind in what is goung on. Presidend Bush is a hooker, we all know that. Let our president Çula do everything. W He will know how to talk to president Bush. Prest is for, how we say here, "Roberts" lol
Predictably, Chavez is calling "Gringo, go home!" again You know, I'm tired in real life of being called a gringo. The other day in a restaurant, this group of young fellows was chatting in Spanish, and I overheard them refer to me as a gringo, maybe 'cause I was wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase (a very rare thing, indeed)? At the very least, I wanna be called an anglo or an Americano That's not so much to ask, is it? I expect Chavez to say stuff like that, especially in his own country -- that's his right, of course. Eh, how do you say it: "Soy un muy agradable gringo?" hehe
I don´t see any problem in calling gringo. Here in Brazil we call every foreing as gringo, it doesn´t mind from where he is from. It has a good history about the gringo stuff: During second world war, USA had a base here in Brazil, in Natal, the extremely north-east corner in Brazil, pointing to Europe. Some native persons saw a comander to the soldiers: "GREEN, GO! GREEN, GO! GREEN GO!" There is the where this gringo stuff came from. Imagine if it was a nazist base there, as it suposed to be hehehehehe "Grau, gehen! Grau, gehen! Grau, gehen!" Imagine being called grauguerren? lol lol lolllllllll
My Peruvian friends were in Mexico and the Mexicans called them "gringos".... my friends were outraged, and told them that they were born in Peru and latinos just like them. The Mexicans replied that as they are not Mexicans , they are gringos ! So I understoond that "gringo" in Latin American is just another word for foreigner. It's no biggie. I suppose all the "rednecks" call Latin Americans "wetbacks"....ha ha ha....
Mr Bush is making this trip for good reasons. he and his subjects seem to have suffered denigration or condemnation from many neighbours. I hope his handlers don't allow him off his leash and let him make a balls of it. he does shit like that, you know? Fuck. USA needs another Great President, because this guy isn't up to the job. Seems there is no criteria qualifying a guy for the job. Which is sad. The office of President should be occupied by a statesman and this guy IS NOT THAT. Sorry. Next time around, maybe? Was Alexis de Tocqueville bang on or what? You know. He ranted some things about the dangers of an ignorant or manipulated body politic with universal sufferage capable of much worse horrors than led masses without democracy or the vote.... 'someone is going to pay' I thought gringo meant "friend...' Hmm. Just looked it up. Apparently it doesn't mean 'friend.' That said, how many times has the United States sent armies through Mexico? I bet every Mexican that went past the fifth grade can answer it and I be very few 'gringos' can answer it without reference to a book. Mexico has a love hate relationship with the USA. There are legitimate reasons for this. I often wonder why 'Americans' [fuck that. EVERYONE on this continent is an American, why must we now avoid calling ourselves that? Is it because of the Power Of The USA's media; he who shouts the loudest?] Anyway, I often wonder why so many 'Amercians' dislike it when, un-introduced, are referred to as "Yanks...." I know Englishmen who don't mind at all the label 'Limey,' yet, at the same time, I know Germans who despise 'kraut.' Which is strange, considering the similar origons of both labels: For The Prevention Of Scurvey. Get over it fuckwad. %)
Gringo means foreigner, but it is a slang. I have a gringo friend from USA living in front of my home. I call him gringo and he doens´t have problem. He answer you as if it was his nickname. But he has a fourteen years old son that is pissed off when we call him gringo. "Oh?? Why do you allways call me gringo, damm it? I HATE YOU ALL!" hehehehehe It depends, you know? If this neighboor comes to me and tells me to not call him gringo anymore, I won´t call him gringo anymore. bla bla bla bla bla Who wants Vodka?
GW Bush is a poor representation for a human being much less for a President.... he is a complete joke. FAR worse that Chauncey Gardner in "Being There".... go see that movie..it's really scarey... now 25 years after the movie. There are books on all his quotations and the media and his handlers had a heck of a time teaching him how to speak English. The stories of how Condie Rice spent hours, weeks months teaching him geography. The first time he met with the president of Brazil( the president of Brazil was/is a Phd and wrote several books), as they were sitting and after the formal statements for the press and all the company, Bush turned to the Brazilian head of state and asked: "You all got blacks here?" GEEEZZZZUS !!!!!!!! Oh well, regarding the word Yank and Yankee.... that was the word that the Dutch settlers use when the English were taking over America from the Dutch. Then New Amsterdam was captured by the English and called New York. Perhaps it was Peter Stuyvesant (hope I spelled the name right) Dutch gov. who called the English settlers of America "Jahnkes" or translated into English: "Johnies". Perhaps to the Dutch too many of them were named John?
AFAIK even though North Americans, Central Americans, and South Americans are all from the Americas, isn't the United States of America the only country with America in it's name? Maybe that's why we're called Americans. Or it could be that we yell it the loudest. Either way. Whatever. And for the record, the only hispanics that we call 'wetback' around here are the spics that don't speak english, because we figure they are here illegally.
We must defer to you, surely. There are no so-called rednecks in Chicago? Me, well I've never heard anyone utter that word in public since Eiesenhower's operation of that name. Until now. But y'all be mo' cleva than we po' Southern boys, 'cuz we be be so stupid. O, Lawdy, hep us!! We canna speak English! We dumb, po Southern boys must learn from y'all! Clown.
