In honor of the men?s that fought this huge battle at 04 June 1942, we?ll repeat the ?Battle Midway Event? in the same date (04 June 2006 at 18:00GMT), with the same planes, but with different chances for both sides!
Sixth-four years after the end of the real battle, you?ll have a chance of fight in that theatre using the TH server and its special features like different routes for CV´s, wingmen?s for bombers, evasive CV maneuver?s, night flights and others.
So, don?t let this opportunity pass away. Check the rules and reserve your place here!.

    The Players:

    Battle of Midway, 4-7 June 1942 WW2
The Battle of Midway, fought over and near the tiny U.S. mid-Pacific base at Midway atoll, represents the strategic high water mark of Japan's Pacific Ocean war. Prior to this action, Japan possessed general naval superiority over the United States and could usually choose where and when to attack.
Japanese Combined Fleet commander Yamamoto was moved on Midway in an effort to draw out and destroy the U.S. Pacific Fleet's aircraft carrier striking forces, which had embarassed the Japanese Navy in the mid-April Doolitle Raid on Japan's home islands and at the Battle of Coral Sea in early May. He planned to quickly knock down Midway's defenses, follow up with an invasion of the atoll's two small islands and establish a Japanese air base there. He expected the U.S. carriers to come out and fight, but to arrive too late to save Midway and in insufficient strength to avoid defeat by his own well-tested carrier air power.
Yamamoto's intended surprise was thwarted by superior American communications intelligence, which deduced his scheme well before battle was joined. This allowed Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, the U.S. Pacific Fleet commander, to establish an ambush by having his carriers ready and waiting for the Japanese. On 4 June 1942, in the second of the Pacific War's great carrier battles, the trap was sprung.

    RULES
These general rules have been taken from the ?Battle of Britain Campaign Rules? like a model, and now it will be used for the ?Midway Map Event II? with the necessary changes.

    Event
Event proceeds during 1h30min. 15 min and every next 5 min before end of event the admins will announce it to all players. E.g: 15 MIN OFF, 10 MIN OFF, 5 MIN OFF.
In the end of event admins will announce GAME IS OVER. In this moment all players have to return to your fields/cvs. Pilots who will not keep this rule will be penalized with kicks.

    Objectives
It will be followed the same of the real battle.

Golds: close the fields and sink as many as possible the red cv?s.

Reds: sink all gold cv?s and prevent fields closure.

    Players
All players have to be registered in the Forum and must know the briefing.

    Mandatory player slots
    Gold
    Admiral Yamamoto:.......................
    Admiral Nagumo:.......................

    Red
    Admiral Nimitz:............................
    Admiral Spruance/Fletcher:.......................

    Admins
For the entire event each side has one Main Admin and one or more Auxiliary admins. Both cooperate and are responsible for the event. Auxiliary Admins can take role also as an "Observers? who watch for keeping rules in flight or target status reporting.
People that have interest in join as Auxiliary Admin in order to see how it works can enlist and will get OP powers for this event.

    Commanding Structure
In general each side has CO and one or more Officers. If CO sit in twr or take part in concrete mission too depends by his own decision. To the CO are subordinated other leaders (Officer, GroupLeaders, WingLeaders etc.).
Each Leader should have his substitute for possible incidents.

    Communication
Communication radio channels + TeamSpeak server (SEPARATED PER SIDES) used in concrete event will be published in general briefing, but each group/squad can use your own TS server or other. Pilots and especially COs/Leaders should be familiar with the common used radio operations.

    Briefing
General briefing will be published on this website. All COs/Leaders should prepare their own briefing for their units and should make pilots acquainted with it.

    Activity areas

Activity area is established. Pilots must follow declared area, activities outside area are not allowed. Abidance of these limits will be checked by the admin observers. Pilots who will not keep limits will be penalized with kick.

    Discos
Disco is not counted as lost. Discoed pilots will be assigned to the alternate mission, but it depends by the actual situation in arena and Admiral's decision.

    General Classification
Final result will be derived from the result of point?s addition, according follow points table:

POINT TABLE (for global calculation, mean: what side won)
    Close one field 75
    Close both fields 150
    CV sunk 150
    Plane shut down 1

    Radar Range

The golds won?t have radar and the reds will have it with a half of default Midway terrain standard capacity.

    Target hit and destruction classification
Targets destruction will be monitored by the Admis. The targets will have the Standard TH DM.

    Individual Classification

The same by the TH score system; pilots must type .clear prior event or franz- could think better way till event day.

    Planes used in event:
Golds: A6M2 (Zero), B5N1 (Kate), D3A1 (Val) and L2d (Tabby)
Reds: F4F4, F4F3 (Wildcat), SBD (Dauntless), TBF (Avenger), B25, B17 and DC3 Sky Train

    Number of planes by pilot
At this time we will use the same Order of Battle used by the both sides in real battle.
So, if you're lost first plane (KIF, KIA,etc.), you'll have as many other chances to try your mission(s), depending your Admiral orders.
If a field was closed or a CV was sunk the pilots can continue in the game, depending your Admiral orders.
The number of slots (planes) is the same that the real battle, but you need to register yourself to fix your preference (fighter, bomber or fighter/bomber) and to know in advance your mission.
Each CO and Officer (Admiral and Vice Admiral) will be able to set all the planes possible to each field/CV or just a specific number per mission.
Admirals must keep the track of their pilots, knowing the fighters and buffer pilots, although Admirals can dispose they forces in the way the situation requires.

    Custom CV routes

The Admirals and Vice Admiral will fix non historical routes for their fleets, but the historic limits will be follow (two task forces for reds and one main body for golds).
As soon as we know the Admirals, TH admins will send a ?kit? containning a ?CV route drawer? and a brief explanation how to use it (a .xls excel file)

    Miscellaneous

    Maximum cruising altitude (MaxCA)
There will be NOT a Max CA

    Minimal cruising altitude (MinCA)
There will be NOT a Min CA

    Formations
Depends on the COs/Leaders decision. The same for the use of the command ?.wings1? by buff pilots.

    OTTO
    soon

    Icons
It will be a franz-'s surprise gift

    Approaching/ Landing Procedures
Each pilot or group of must inform in the team channel his approach/field and witch pilots are doing. The CO, the Officer or any other pilot appointed will organize the procedures, fixing a landing order. (Remember: friend collision will be possible after take off!)

    Example:
? Vibora, Raposo and Bbking are returning and ask for landing permission on the team channel (Channel 103: Vibora, Raposo and Bbking asking for landing. F3). The CO, Stuka, appoint the Officer/Leader/Pilot responsible (Channel 103: Barros in the twr, he?ll organize the approaching). Barros fixes the order (Channel 103: The landing order is: Vibora, Raposo and Bbking. Landing F4, Akagi´s goneL) and watch the landing progress (Channel 103: Vibora on the deck! or Vibora?s lost his attempt, he is after Bbking now).

    Penalties

P.S. Sorry for my bad english.

I dislike kamikaze penalties. Kamikaze pilots are weapons like any other.

Tigrou - You´re welcome, but for now i don't know which will be my side because if there isn't Nimitz or Fletcher I'll have assume this place.
But, gold or red it'll be a pleasure to flight with the french team! :)

Alemao - This event follow some historic aspects, so in Midway we won't have kamikazes. But don't lost your hopes, because Leyte Gulf Battle is a good idea too! ;)
