well I just got a USB numpad to change my keyboard commands to that. But it seems that the new FH launcher does not even start correctly on vista. Warbirds works but not the fh launcher. This is total crap. Did anyone else have this problem?

 

which messages/symptoms do you get with fhl/vista?

 

I dont get any messages at all. It just freezes up on me. Warbirds works and the free host launcher also. But when I click "go online", the launcher freezes.......at which point I have to end it with ctrl + alt + delete

 

I would go into the windows firewall settings and let both warbirds and freehost launcher access to the net.

Did you go to the properties of the shortcuts on both to enable windows98 compatibility?

Did you go into display properties and disable transition effects?

 

Hello, gentlemen! At home I use a dual-boot with Vista and Fedora. My experience is that ye olde WB installs fine, and will run fine, but as some have here mentioned, keyboard (and mouse) will cease working when in flight.

Apparently that isn't what it might seem, like, uh, it isn't a switch to turn the computer into thinking there is a PnP OS, it is to make the computer think there isn't, or something like that. There may be modules loaded in your nix that are duplicated, like, uh, a mouise that isn't really there, but the box thinks it is... or something like that.

 

Man, I don't need a cerebral hemorrhage to be confused I'm gonna mess with some older hardware I have about the joint here. For example, I have an old PIII @ 733MHz which was happily running distros w/XFCE! So maybe I'll spend some time with fdisk and try to coax Win 98 on there.

Strange, but now I can't even find a joystick in my house -- must have chucked them all in a fit of cleaning a few years back.

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda bs=512 count=1
every time you finish a step when farting around in the hdd, reboot and let the computer take a peek while booting up so it will see the new MBR, sometimes computers need to be told more than once.

the problem is that ien dudes rushed to use dinput that ms changed in vista.
i guess we must create a model old-style directx application to experiment with, and to create an appropriate patch.
