    [edited] Speelberg Banned Of Broders

Title, above, spelled wrong so robots maybe not hunt me and kill me.

You know the movie I am talking about?:
The one about a Company in a Battalion of the US 101st Airborne Division fighting and getting shot at and blowed up for many hours of viewing pleasure?
    Assorted avi, divx and mpeg.

And a few other things, music mostly. Mostly Old Guy Hippy Music.

It isn't a domain thingie, um.
    It is filesharing.

    port 80, HTTP.
    it is HTTP based filesharing.

it is filesharing that is HTTP based.

    I dunno...

Not routed? I dunno what that even means.

    Did you try it?

I didn't send the ip number, I sent a LINK:

It won't work without a password, you will get an error message: Either a 404 [page not found] or 401 [authorization required - you didn't enter the correct PW].

[snip]WWW File Share Pro runs as a local HTTP server that can help you easily share files with your friends. You can select a directory with files that you want to share and the program will automatically create an attractive index of the files and makes them available for sharing (via your IP address or domain). You can limit access by username and password, allow your friends to upload new files to a specified directory on your computer. Simply specify a directory for downloads and a directory for uploads. Your friends can access your shared files with any web browser, there is no need for them to install any software. Additional features include customizable page colors, headers, logging and more. The program is very easy to use, and you can have a fully operational file sharing (web) server on your machine within minutes.[/snip]

Your wan ip address pease( the address of your router ), not the address of our machine behind some nat-router !!
And I suspect that you have to give your router some set up since it will be an incoming conection. ( You have to tell your router where to send the incoming http/tcp conection request. To 192.168.2.100 I asume )

Sorry if it doesn't work, folks. Becuase if it doesn't now, it surely won't later on......
I don't want to go and argue with my router and the crappy software it came that says I got my password wrong [WHAT PASSWORD????? I NEVER SET UP ONE!!!!!!].
I had endless trouble with the fuckin thing getting it all set up.

If it isn't possible to leech the files, then I guess it won't ever be, becuase I am no longer able to read endless reams of technical instructions and patiently argue with software and hardware. I won't anymore.
As I get older, I am less inclined to embrace the latest user's manuals.... they are too heavy and they cloud my brain with shit.

Router accepts no incoming connection requests from, um, Port 80????
I knew I should have just bought a fuckin hub....

Okay, just do the following, reconfigure your router to reroutesubstituteproxybous on port 9057 unless it is parablbblbhgsfsdf
    fuck fuck fuck.
    I won't.

    Sorry.

I made a call to smc support. I told the woman I have no password, I never got a password and I want a password.
    I got one.
Then I went and got slowly boiling reading the instructions and trying to make sense of the stuff. I am self educated and have huge gaps in my technical instruction [gotten from tearing things to pieces and then putting them back together, like a little boy does it].

As far as I can tell, my IP number is, like my name, NOT unique to me. hehe. Not anymore............

I redirected all requests coming through outside port 80 to port 80.

The WAN [not the LAN number, the WAN number - funny, the difference never meant anything to me before I got this fuckin router.... groan] IP number is

    um, again...

    The WAN IP Number is
    205.250.6.100
    on port 80 [www]

therefore, I hope, the link would be
    http://205.250.6.100

    try it again.
I am angry and not thinking too clearly, but I work hardest when I am angry. Not the best way to be when one has to be detail oriented [which I am not at the best of times]

    Got no responce from 205.250.6.100.
One( not the best) way to get your wan ip number to check at:
    https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
Your ip number is about 5 lines from the bottom of the page
    whithin (.....).

About setting up yor router. U prolly have to tell it to send
http( port 80 ) to 192.168.2.100( your lan ip number, I asume ).
That is needed cus U might have more than 1 puter on
your network, and the router must know where u have
    the server with the films.
I don't know smc routers but if you tell what type it is maybe sombody might give u som help.

I got a real bad pucker there for a minute, except this time I fuckin WROTE down what I did so I could UNdo it.

Okay, what the fuck do I do?
There are instructions all over the net but I am
    1) lazy
    2) in denial [I need BIFOCAL eyeglasses]
    3) frustrated

    4) having to piss way more often than I u......

Nowhere did I see anything remotely resembling what the guy described. I can forward a thing from an 'external port' to a 'private port...'
but I can't make an outside IP into a wan one...
or was that a lan one, or was it udp ppp ppoe smtp or, uh, redirect an IP number to where, using how?
    Where do I sign?
    I want another leg.

Anyone want to wire me remote and help me fart around with this router, I can bust it by myself, just fine. But I don't want to bust it, not while I am using it. Later I will bust it, but on purpose, while drunk and happy.

    Who wants to help biles?
Or should I give up like I ranted above I would give up like I ranted above, as above.

OK. I have downloaded the manual.
    Me think:
    1. Check 4.6 Virtual server in the manual
    2. Make an entry for service port 80, web(80), Server ip=192.168.2.100, enable.
    3. Make sure that the local ip number is 192.168.2.100
    4. Make sure that the wan ip number is 205.250.63.151. Did u use my method to check it ? I can?t ping that address

The setups do not look a bit like those pictured in the manual NOR do they have data input fields similar..... I tried my best though. Virtual Server:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Virtual Server
You can configure the Barricade as a virtual server so that remote users accessing services such as the Web or FTP at your local site via public IP addresses can be automatically redirected to local servers configured with private IP addresses. In other words, depending on the requested service (TCP/UDP port number), the Wireless Barricade redirects the external service request to the appropriate server (located at another internal IP address).

    Well known services : ID

    ID_______IP Address____Public Port/s__Private Port/s___Data Type___ Enable
    1______192.168.2.100______80__________8080___________BOTH________Yes

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The wan number is, for now, 205.250.63.151
Seems to be dynamic IP. But changes infrequently, like, for instance, when I screw up and must reset something. Else it stays the same number for a long time.
There is an option in there to ping the IP of the provider every few minutes so the lease won't expire, or something..... ANyway, no where to put in an IP unless it is static.

I did the stuff you suggested as best I could.

    Try it.

    Still no responce.

    me think this is better:
    ID_______IP Address____Public Port/s__Private Port/s___Data Type___ Enable
    1______192.168.2.100______80__________80___________BOTH________Yes

    Change 8080 to 80

    And another question:
What do you get if you set http://205.250.63.151/ or
    http://192.168.2.100/ in your browser ?

In both cases u should get to the directory with your films

I can access the host, but I get booted out after a short period (ie the verifying time)
I used IP 205.250.63.151. name and pwd as supplied by dear biles.

I have SmartFTP, but I'm not smart so I dunno why it wont work.
WIll try more later, the fail msg I get is "Closed by remote host"

    TRY IT NOW!!

:super:[Who da Man!: You da man!!]

Okay. I made a switch from port 8080 to the default www port, 80. As you suggested.
I made sure the windows firewall made an exception for wwwfilesharepro. It was already set up to allow that proggie to listen to that port, or something, um....

I cannot succed connecting with 205.250.63.151 from THIS machine [prolly the bits go to null, right?
But when I go over to my son's machine and try it, it is fine. PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Asks for username and password and lets me in
    again:
    !!!!!!!!!!!!

    Still no luck.

You should be able to conect using http://205.250.63.151/
    from ANY system.
And using http://192.168.2.100/ from a system within your network.

Reuben: You are trying port 21(ftp) all you should get is
    nothing or "conection refused" !
So this "(an established connection was aborted by software in the hostcomputer)" is strange. Maybe his router has an ftp port open( what for in that case ? )

Biles is trying to share this using port 80(http) ! Or is he ?????
