Map for Blitz for follow on to B of Britain For a London Blitz Senario The WBET01.TRN would seem the most sutable map to use and the GlarsMap ETO terian West would seem to go with it There are plenty of target in the London Area including the Houses of Parliament { be nice to finish off what Guy Fawkes Started } And it gives enough scale for Bombers to start out of fighter range. This map could be used again later when the Allies are in a position to counter attack. If we like this idea i will approch FH command to see if they would stomach it Gmac. "Think on"
Newsreel Looking at some newsreel of Blitz first raid was of 900 bombers in around the clock raids on London Docks and the East end of London which were virtualy unapposed by RAF for the first 4 days, which for some reason apeared not to be able to Scramble in time to gain enough hight for effective interception. Or perhaps was till fearing invasion at the coast Yes no doubt there are mainy senarios in the pipe line but I am a patient man Gmac
nice idea, its cool maybe a non historical battle between usa, britain VS germany, russain somethin of a twist ))))
The Basic facts July 10 - start of 3-month air war; Goering vs. RAF Ends Oct 30 after 57-day Blitz on London Brit. lose 832 fighters; Ger. lose 668 plus 600 bombers The Blitz refers to the strategic bombing campaign conducted by the Germans against London and other cities in England from September of 1940 through May of 1941, targeting populated areas, factories and dock yards. The first German attack on London actually occurred by accident. On the night of August 24, 1940, Luftwaffe bombers aiming for military targets on the outskirts of London drifted off course and instead dropped their bombs on the center of London destroying several homes and killing civilians. Amid the public outrage that followed, Prime Minister Winston Churchill, believing it was a deliberate attack, ordered Berlin to be bombed the next evening. About 40 British bombers managed to reach Berlin and inflicted minimal property damage. However, the Germans were utterly stunned by the British air-attack on Hitler's capital. It was the first time bombs had ever fallen on Berlin. Making matters worse, they had been repeatedly assured by Luftwaffe Chief, Hermann Göring that it could never happen. A second British bombing raid on the night of August 28/29 resulted in Germans killed on the ground. Two nights later, a third attack occurred. German nerves were frayed. The Nazis were outraged. In a speech delivered on September 4, Hitler threatened, "...When the British Air Force drops two or three or four thousand kilograms of bombs, then we will in one night drop 150-, 230-, 300- or 400,000 kilograms. When they declare that they will increase their attacks on our cities, then we will raze their cities to the ground. We will stop the handiwork of those night air pirates, so help us God!" Beginning on September 7, 1940, and for a total of 57 consecutive nights, London was bombed. The decision to wage a massive bombing campaign against London and other English cities would prove to be one of the most fateful of the war. Up to that point, the Luftwaffe had targeted Royal Air Force airfields and support installations and had nearly destroyed the entire British air defense system. Switching to an all-out attack on British cities gave RAF Fighter Command a desperately needed break and the opportunity to rebuild damaged airfields, train new pilots and repair aircraft. "It was," Churchill later wrote, "therefore with a sense of relief that Fighter Command felt the German attack turn on to London..." During the nightly bombing raids on London, people took shelter in warehouse basements and underground (subway) stations where they slept on makeshift beds amid primitive conditions with no privacy and poor sanitation facilities. Other British cities targeted during the Blitz included; Portsmouth, Southampton, Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol, Bath, Cardiff, Birmingham, Coventry, Nottingham, Norwich, Ipswich, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, Hull, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Newcastle . British pilots get orders to counterattack the submarine pens at Bremen, using "what few bombers they could get together" big bomb with word "adolf" dropped on sub pens "Here was the RAF giving it back" etc There must be a balance senrio in that lot Gmac.
i would like a BOB senario just that if we can't muster enough players, such a senario would prove boring
Info. The first British raid on Berlin took place place on the night of 25/26th August 1940. A total of 81 aircraft took part in the raid drawn from No's 3, 4 and 5 Groups. The type involved were Wellingtons (3 Grp), Whitleys (4 Grp) and Hampdens (5 Grp). The closest we have to a British Heavy bomber is probably the B25 or possibly Betty at a push. But I dont think there is a map that will cover Berlin and the UK ? Gmac.
have more faith in the pilots of the FH community stooge, you underestimate them... they'll be there, I've seen the last BoB, and I must say there were pretty much players involved, and the number of pilots it still increasing, so there'll definitly be lotsa pilots there greetz, Zembla Your friendly neighborhood psychiatrist (without a diploma)
