Apparently there is no way to play WB without windows. So I am wondering how many of you use legal copy of it?

I'm using snakies copy, which he got from spuint, who got it from milo. Big-jo mailed it to milo btw. I just copied it to reuben.

I don't know who handles the german speaking part of the community, but I've heard that ho-hun might be part of it. Or "the Astronaut".

Does student license for windows allow to use it for recreational activities, like gaming?
I know I could get free license for developers, but its supposed to be just for "testing purposes". Apparently playing WB on it would be still illegal :/

WHY would anybody use Vista? I mean what can it do that XP can't ... besides being an even bigger memory hog? :p

dont use the fact that you're retarded to justify stealing
that its easy and you are poor&/or cheap will have to be good enough

Got at least 6 valid Windows licences (counting both at home in Liverpool and back in Poland)...

Win95, Win98SE, Double XP Home, XP Pro...

why stealing, when OEM licences are a standard feature of newly bought computers? And besides that -even a separate licence isn't so dear to get.

Cause Vista is an eyecandy, while XP isn't anymore... just kidding... the best Windows OS I ever used is (and remains) 2000 Pro.
I've recently got an e-mail from PC World, asking me if I would like to upgrade my XP to Vista for 'just 89 Pounds'... 'I would be delighted to downgrade my XP to 2000 Pro for half of that sum refunded' I replied :)

Buying computers in once piece (supermarket style computers) is in 99% of cases a complete waste of money

    the remaining 1% are notebooks

Personally I'm not a fan of buying computers piece-meal because I

    A) like my system components to cooperate flawlessly (which is not necessarily a given ... some components just won't play nice with each other)
    B) haven't got the time or expertise to know which CPU's, hard disks, graphics cards, etc. are good and which aren't ...

therefore I chose to waste some of my money on a prebuilt system from Dell and I'm perfectly happy with it. :)

as long as it suits you to pay for the tiny sticker saying "DELL", and get a system with less "power" for a greater price, it's fine with me :)

not to mention the warranty issue making you call the serviceguy everytime a screw loosens inside 'cause you can't open the case by yourself warranty void bla bla bla

    Three machines all licensed.
win 2000 pro LOTS OF MONEY!!!!
win xp sp2 home TOO MUCH MONEY!!!
Linux File Server in my MONSTER machine FREE! as in freedom, not free beer.

My dell laptop won't startup after being in standby.
The battery heats up to the point it could/would start a fire [no warranty, as the thing was bought used].
Microphone circuitry has somehow, spontaniously busted.
Keyboard is pressed against lcd when stored and there is a BIG UGLY SCAR on the LCD.

I wouldn't recommend Dell to ANYONE. Not after my experiance with their MacLaptops.

I say it is worth it to cultivate a relationship with a small business, a Mom and Pop computer shop. Pick your CPU and parts and pay a VERY reasonable fee to have them put it together.

The AWESOME AMD games box sitting next to my POS laptop was made for me in a couple days and costed me less than 500 bucks [I had a couple things at home I put in, like sound card and a couple BIG HDDs]
It is unbeliveable, such a fast machine, works well, I get high frame rates in even the most demanding of decently coded games.

Prepackaged can be garbage also. mom and Pop operations are good things to find and cultivate and spend your money at. I dread the day the ONLY computer dealer on earth will be Walmart...
i prolly be dead of old age before the world degrades to that point...
    uh.
    No.
    Ummm.
    WAIT!

    FH won't work in nix.
If I am wrong, PLEASE TELL ME, because I would send you money! [well, no, I wouldn't]

    Nope.
    Already checked this out:
These batteries are just the regular kind of Dell/Sony much too hot battery:
    Uranium fission.
They won't likely start a fire, but I better wear some lead underpants.

Laptop will burn out before it burns. Junk thing.

As your opinions are always bucked up by factual data, you wouldn't mind to point us to the source of your information, would you? I would certainly like to know how to play WB on-line on linux.
