That's too one-sided a picture. You're making it look as if Georgia had the undivided sympathy of everyone in the west. In reality, most people probably feel that both sides are to blame for this mess, with some viewing either Russia or Georgia as the main culprit. That's of course not what western governments are saying, but then you have to keep in mind that Georgia is (was? ... that remains to be seen) a U.S. ally. I think it goes without saying that America isn't exactly chuffed about you guys taking out one of its main allies in the region, whether Georgia started the war or not.

tonight i took home two polish girls from the bus station.
funny, it turned out they are coming from Georgia!

they said, in the beginning Georgians didnt believe that yet another skirmish in Ossetia would escalate so much. they were making jokes that the war is starting.
also that Saakashvili is generally seen as a funny fool and very unserious politician. now that his tricks have put the country in such humiliation his political career is probably finished.

I wouldn't take any sides bloviating too seriously as it is a basic political requirement for each side to do so.

Today Russians and Americans go about their joined-task on the ISS, happy as clams, with no worries or politics.

On FH ultra-nationalistic idiocy remains at its normal level.

Well, not necessarily ... we could just start a war and knock each other senseless. The one who's left would be the one who's right. ;)

putting the question this way shows that you are unable to break out of your own civilization's limited mode of perception.
it will be impossible to explain to you how it makes sense.

    Czechoslovakia :)

Or, on the other hand, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Or, on the other hand, the United States of America.

I'd wager that none of those would be any worse off if they had just stayed as one. Yes, that goes even for America, which IMO would eventually have received its independence anyway, just like Canada.

(Colonies are different. Colonies should eventually become their own countries as the distance from the motherland is just too great for them to be effectively governed from there.)

    Some suggestions:

If Georgia was agresor, why they retrreat so quickly? They had mountain terrain, which could be defended for at least some weeks. Why they asked for weapons calming three days after war? Georgia absolutely fails in attack Ossetia, or maybe Georgia isn't agresor. It wasn't prepared for war or russians are damn good soldiers.

If the things were simple, I'm voting for joining soouth Ossetia to Russian federation. Ossetians wants it. But there are major problem. Ossetia is deep in Georgia's country very near of Tiblisi and is Russia has it, it is like knife on the neck of Georgia. So the best solution is joining Abchasia to RF and move Ossetians to Abchasia and Georgians to free space of Ossetia.

There are one more big problem. If war will continune, Turkey looks like it is prepared for answer with army. Turkey is a member of NATO, if Turkey will join the war it could be war NATO vs RF and we will go to the main european war with no sitzkrieg, maybe the third world war.

No, the best solution is remove all ppl who wants to live with Russia to Russia. If they are in Georgia territory, they must respect their rules and laws. It's simply, every kid knows it.

But they have their country and homes there, so they need some space for living.
