It seems, after all these years, that freehost is finally dying....

Not many people play here anymore, including me. no big raids anymore, just a few guys flying around in fighters trying to get a kill or two..Even my old squad, 403, doesnt even exist it seems...wow, we used to have 7-8 guys playing every night..

Flight models have changed many, many times, for many planes, it seems only original flight models are good now (ie spitfire mark 1, 109e, stuka b)

Maybe the best thing now is to use a newer version of warbirds?

This is a great game, but I feel its time is nearly over...

    Oh, for the old days;

Way back when retread would take to the skies with his trusty b24 and golds would tremble that the tribulation was upon them...

When Jayroc would do the unspeakable with the Bf110 over a red field; five inside loops all the while laying waste to targets and anything that moved in the sky or on the ground.

When Jay would do the impossible and the unmentionable with a Ju88 that made his attacker fall on the floor and laughing to tears..

When Osan would take his spit up and every 190 and 109 would hide in fear for most challenger's destiny was an express delivery to the hard ground.

Oh, those days are gone, long gone. "I hear they put a roller skate rink over OK corral...."

Well I hope should the admin/devs ever want to retire they, if not make the whole thing shareware, they license the package and let someone else make a freehost server somewhere else or at least a point to point version so friends could invite others for a head to head online or group to play when they can.

Who knows maybe another generation of nostalgic "enthusiasts" may appear just in time....

Yuck! I'd rather play some cheap console action flight "simulation".

Numbers have taken a down turn, no doubt. :( Hopefully now that FH is being actively maintained again, we'll get some new launchers with badly needed bugfixes in the near future. That might make people return.

what we need most right now is for the scorepages to work, it's a shame that no-one tells us anything about this

The score pages are the least of my concerns. As long as .score still works ...

    Or were you being sarcastic?

    nah, I wasn't

as you've seen in many posts already, the lack of score is one of the main reasons why people no longer come play

that said I still don't get WHY THE FUCK CAN'T SOMEONE TELL US WHAT'S GOING ON WITH IT...

relax al, probalby just a pair of clusters that hit the fan to create a gigantic clusterfuck? All to do is to wait until it leaves the fan ;)

seriously, though, the scores can that really be the MAIN event that makes people migrate? I would blame Vista :D

and some other things, but if you get a new machine these days and don't take care, you get friggin stuck with vista. Which suxx. Hard and a lot. Hippoballs, actually.

It would be fun to use the arenas to host air races much like the ones that the parrots would make at the IEN arenas with prizes.

Well in my opinion the numbers have been dwindling for a long time. Part of the problem is way to many launchers (especially for a noob) and the reintroduction of the training arena. Sure it's just fine for training, but with 2 arena's available it just takes away from the multi-player mode. to fix this I suggest making only 1 arena. This way there are some targets around, err I mean pilots.

Anyhow I may be looking into another WW-II combatflight sim soon. This is harder to do then it seems, I have been flying this one since 99 doing head to head best of 5 or 7 sorties on wally's warbirds ladder challenge, then got persuaded to come to FH at the end of 99 or beginning of 2000, it was shocking to me because I had only did head to head battles and didn't have to look out for another con/wingman. back in FH's early days I was one hell of a dogfighter 1 on 1 and won most of my encounters, but learning to fight in a multi-player enviroment made me learn fast to constantly look around (known as SA= Situational awareness). It wasn't long before I could take on 2 or more and end up winning. Well eventually new launchers were introduced some good and some bad. but I do remember more then 100 pilots flying here or more. 20 to 30 for each side was the norm on a daily basis for a long while. Well FH isn't a feast anymore but the last morsels on a plate, rather 2 plates/arenas. I would like to say Thank you to all that let me fly here over the years. I met alot of great people here and killed them (virtually) and been killed too ;) and got to fly with too. I have made alot of friends here and a few enemies, and a few bitter ones too I suppose. I'de like to ask for foregivness, because I foregive any that caused my blood pressure to rise. I guess when I look back at FH it will be fondly, man you let me have some freaking awesome dogfights with some awesome virtual pilots. Sorry for the sentimental journey, but this seems to be maybe the end of FH as we know it. :( but again Thanks for all the good times a big <S>

why? imho 99% of pilots came because they heard about WB from their friends so they had private mentors for their questions and help...

well, i am in that 1%, i've been looking for some good porno pages, dunno why i found wb (ok, maybe i know...), but i am not a typical wb-player because i am very clever and i have not a problem to find the new FHL version :p
    j/k ;)

Believe me that you've been staying at WBFH for last 3 or 4 years only because you were addicted :). This game, the server and community were on a downslope ever since that time and currently are all degraded below any acceptable point. I too really enjoyed the FH in the old days but I've been searching for a new sim in past few years. And it really wasn't easy as you noticed. Targetware (especially TT) was the closest to my expectations in terms of realism, historical correctness and gameplay. But unfortunately this sim failed to keep it's players due to numerous bugs and rare updates. I'm currently at AHII and if you're looking for a copy of FH's gameplay (only 10x bigger and more complex and with hundreds of players), except maybe RPS, this sim is closest. However not ideal for sure. There is no other alternative at the moment, IMO.
Anyhow it may be the last call to abandon this boat, which is already burned and sunk anyway :).
