Awesome plane but I can't seem to find any reference to any P63 combat missions at all.

Every month a friend sends Ms. Fat'le and family US $3000. Goes to an account in Switzerland, I believe :znaika:

Well, they saw combat in Manchuria, August 1945. IIRC their victory list contains two Ki-27s only.

That is the biggest problem. The official accounts had to state that there were no P-63 used in the Western front.

Yet there are stories from German and personal Russian accounts that claim many were used against Germany.

I have my serious doubts that Russians would follow such a ridiculous 'agreement'.

I read one account that Americans could not understand how the Russians were getting their non-winterized P-40s to start and function in the horrendous cold on the German front.

The answer was they would take a 200 liter drum of gas, place it under the engine of the P-40 and light the gas.

Some planes would start, some would burn, but planes took-off and faced the enemy every morning, every night.

With THAT kind of determination, I seriously doubt that Russians would just stare at these very fine, very capable new planes and wait while their comrades are fighting a bitter battle in the West...

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
And the rub is that someone might do it, read on:

    200 litres?
I thought you shied away from apocrypha?

All you need is a tarp draped around the motor you want to start-up and a pan with a little petrol in it and something to shield the howling winds of Russian Winter. Some more tarp does well as windbreak too.

Just think, the CO says START those engines, I don't give a fuck if some of them get wrecked, we need to fight and fight NOW, not next May. So, the crew wouldn't dare to trip over to their vehicle and light a drum of fuckin petrol underneath it..... Nice way to get yourself in a punishment battalion....

I have started motors with petrol in a pan. Never did I have to use a load of gasoline .... A little will do fine.

....I bet you knew that and I bet you are just teasing your neighbours, hoping some anon ass does it because they trust urban myths or internet myths [just as bad and stupid] and do as he says.
    :p

Drums full of gasoline tend to ignite and burn all at once, so is best to use small amounts, like in a PAN UNDER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT and a shelter, easily made by humans who live and breath in tarpaulins, there are tarpaulins everywhere the are troops. And gasoline too.. And pans.

Also, Soviet crews sometimes mixed petrol into the crank oil, to thin, make it less viscous....
Also, sometimes German crews removed the crank oil [until the CO found out, then the crews would be sent to The Camps].

    :fly2:
