How is this not incentive to implement this? Wouldn't it force players to divide up into teams and actually play the game instead of 13 gold bombing the map to bits against zero red? I think they might get tired of it being 1940 all the time and figure out that it might be best to start actually playing the game.

    really dunno.
i believe that we have high-priority problems rather than switching maps like that.

Yeah, I've mentioned this, and made some suggestions.
Here is what comes to mind that might help stop the un-opposed bombing.
    1. Prevent over 50% of map capture by:
    A. Disabling paratrooper release with less than 2 opponents present, similar to commando restriction.
    B. Disable paratrooper aircraft with less than 2 opponents present.
My thought is that 2 opponents can defend and prevent capture of fields under attack.

What do you think? Is this doable?

I've seen the map changed before, and the time remains (no reset back to 1940). I wouldn't want to see the time reset, just the map for variety. Some people hate some of these maps and it would provide an opportunity to cover maps that people agree on.

You have a pretty valid argument there. Would be nice to see these point mongering buff pilots put in their place.

No problem. Just an idea to consider when looking at arena participation numbers. :)

one buff proudly hanging below the skies is a hook for a second player: once he sees one, he'll get onto arena.

if we disable lone captures, second player will not stick to lone ones.

    that's the problem.

situation 1) lone captures available. lone buff flying. you check fhlauncher and see 1 person online.

situation 2) lone captures disabled. noone flying. you check fhlauncher and see 0 persons online.

please describe your behaviour in situations 1 and 2.

    now it is formulated clearly?

    Awesome.

As a long time player I am saddened by the low number of flyers lately. The game play, the planes and maps are all fine. In my opinion the developers are doing just fine.

What we need, from my perspective, is an easy download and install process. When I show the game to people they love it and want to play but can't get beyond the installation process. I'm not computer savvy and don't understand why we don't have an easy install process.

Also it seem like each time we upgrade we lose another player or two. How about we come up 'the package' and don't change things. Our current package is pretty good. If a major error is found and we must somehow upgrade or change make it a one click upgrade linked at the log in. Basically make it so that once we log in we are directed to the upgrade and hit install. That upgrade then installs 'on it's own' and sends you too the game.

I would love to see the large number of pilots we once had. Making the install a one step process is the first step in that direction in my opinion.

Too easy to just have accounts log on and check the box to allow capture.

This is exactly where I was going with this. Glad someone finally figured out one of our biggest glitches. Multiple logins. Even though my suggestions to prevent un-opposed field closure/capture can and will work, people can login as opponents AND as same country, and capture easily. I've seen people login twice, fly bomber sorties on one, and the other capture. And also perform on the spying part with multiple logins.

Are you giving expected scenarios, or choices of scenarios?

Another point I'll make since I still don't understand where you are going with your "situations". I mentioned this before: When users of both sides begin to log in, one side will have maybe 3 fields left, and the other country will have 20, because a bunch of guys went on a close and capture spree. Now the country with 3 fields is already behind in trying to fight back. I've experienced this many times and still do every other day when checking the arenas. When I find 2, 3, or 6 guys on, bombing/capturing, I lay down the nasty and lay waste to their troop wagons and buffs. Then those folks log off, good riddance. Then I'm alone again. Then I go to TA and wait for someone to show up.

I think what exec means is if you find yourself in situation 1, you're more likely to log in and fly. (Either to help a fellow countryman capture, or if said bomber is the opposing country, up to try and stop him.)

In situation 2, most people wouldn't bother logging in.

    If it is so...

In situation 1, I'll likely counter with resistance. I don't participate in capturing fields when there are no other opposing countrymen on. It's utterly boring to me.

In situation 2, I will log in, load up WBChat, and wait for someone to show up. Many times someone will show up. I know from just sitting there in chat people will show up. The only problem I have with the current FHLauncher is that many people will never know other people are loading FHLauncher to check for other users in an arena. They see nobody on, they leave. This is something I've encountered and confirmed with many users who just load FHLauncher, see nobody, and leave.

Maybe there should be a different approach to logging into FHLauncher.
When someone loads FHLauncher, that person is logged into a list on the right hand side, in another box, showing they are present. Because most people will load FHLauncher, see nobody on, and close it out, we are losing potential users who would likely enter an arena when someone is there. Maybe there is a way to set it up so when someone loads FHLauncher, they show up as logged in, and can chat. This would attract more users to log on. What do you think?

This has been discussed often, of course. Each user must live according to his/her own ethics, and sometimes there's not much we can do about it. Those who cheat suffer through their own conscience (diminished as it may be) ;)

Lately I'm thinking that one of the biggest issues here is lack of organized squads. They give one a sense of loyalty and purpose. Also best way of training newcomers!

Do we have many squads that meet at least once weekly and train/coordinate missions? Think we need to start some more.

Things like flight models, "otto" effectiveness and such don't matter as much with more organized play, I think. Just my recent thoughts.

If an organized group of three players comes on and take over the map unopposed, I say congratulations -- well done :)

I'd like to get away from the squad idea. I've seen too many squads with the mindset of "I'm in my squad and fuck you if you're not." I think that's one of the many attitudes that killed the game. That fuck you if you're not in my squad mentality, from the new guy's point of view, makes a hostile environment in a game that pretty much requires teamwork to do anything meaningful. Now, it doesn't literally have to be a country channel fuck you direct from some squad to the newbie, but the whole idea of letting some new guy who just started be your squad's distraction to attack somewhere on the other side of the map seems like an enormous fuck you to the new guy. Now, if the newbie tried ordering people around, well I agree with that, but completely shutting him out of any operation, or just saying fly the li bitch just because he's the new guy is fucked up. Just have one of your escort fighters wing up with the newbie and show him the ropes and take care of the li with the first pilot IN YOUR SQUAD in a position to where they are able to fly the damn li.

Then there's the squad bitching about the new guy fucking it up. It always seems to be the guy in the squad that planned the raid bitching about it, too. Well, dumbass, what did you expect? He's the new guy! Fuck! Plan for that shit you stupid mother fucker! You knew it was coming, unless you're exceptionally stupid, so you had forewarning. If there's anyone to blame here, it's the dumbshit that planned the raid without taking that possibility into account and planning for that contingency. Remember that a good squadron leader, flight leader, or element leader has to know the capabilities of their people and plan around those capabilities. Don't fucking blame the newbie or non-squad member on your lack of leadership, which is what caused the fuck up in the first place.

Now, some of you squad folk might read this and think they've got it down and mumble is just full of shit, but I routinely see this happen, even with the few players we have left. It's just two things that are missing: discipline and leadership from the squads. There's an easier way of putting this together in a way that helps keep discipline and leadership. Put the country you're playing for first. I'm not saying this gives you license to bitch the players about and tell them every single move. Micromanagement of pilots is asinine. Just think of the new guys as potential members of your squad. You don't have to invite the guy into your squad, but think of them as a spare just in case a squad member couldn't show up and you need someone to help out. This doesn't mean that they'll be dependable and come at your beckoned call so to speak, but you'll get an idea of what skills they're capable of as you work with them and you can start planning more complex missions for the newbie, giving them a challenge to keep them playing.

So, include the new guys in your raids. Don't leave them out in the cold, but work with what they're willing to contribute. Don't go and force them to do stuff. They're the new guy, and they don't know what this game is all about, so let them try what they want to try out, help with any questions, and give them some advice if they ask. It's not that fucking hard so to speak.

Wow mumble! What squadron were you in that abused new users?? I never found that in JG27 or in my own squadron. It's a pretty loose game tactic right now so, organization is quite random outside of most squadrons. Joining a squadron should be for the purpose of a united effort where one or two guys decide a plan, not necessarily for training new guys.
