The following open letter, written by U.S. Marine Joshua Boston and headlined “No ma’am.,” was posted in the CNN iReport on Dec. 27 with the included note from the producer and photo. It has struck a nerve with many and is being circulated around social media venues like Twitter and Facebook.

CNN PRODUCER NOTE: joshdb50 was a Marine and was deployed to Afghanistan between the years of 2004 through 2005. Although he is no longer in the military he acknowledges that he owns gun. He says he does not believe the government needs to know what guns he owns because he believes registration would lead to confiscation. He says the laws that are in place for gun control are plenty, and adding more laws will remove a means of defense for people. ‘I own the guns I own because I acknowledge mankind’s shortcomings instead of pretending like they don’t exist. There are evil men in this world and there just may be a time when I need to do the unthinkable to protect me or my family,’ he said.

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime. You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.

I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.

I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.

Joshua Boston: I’ve been seeing this nonsense about gun control in the news since forever. Senator Feinstein regularly touts the effectiveness of the first Assault Weapons Ban while pointing out the “loopholes.” So she proposes this new ban legislation. Given the tragedy that happened recently it has considerably more traction with folks, most who rely in some major way on emotions and what they’re being told by the media about these “Weapons of Mass Destruction.” My Windham Weaponry SRC sits in my home loaded and ready to be used should the need ever arise. It does not make me a criminal.

I’m sick of being told by people in Washington D.C. what is okay for me to own for my own personal defense while they enjoy the safety of many armed guards with better firearms than I have access to. It’s hypocritical.

WTH: In your opinion, what do you think the Second Amendment is for?

JB: Looking at the founder’s times and what they had just gone through, it was something they put in there for us should we ever find ourselves in their shoes and have to reassert, because of whatever manifestation of tyranny, our inherent right to freedom and liberty.

With the help of our tyrannical government, we have Russian Spetsnaz and Chinese Sirius and other special forces, German, Russian, and Chinese bases, off-limits, language signs in their own languages training in our own backhills. We have protests and other gatherings where these "law enforcement people" who don't act like Americans, don't speak English very well (we can tell), and have unfriendly faces show up as "crowd control" dressed up like riot police.

Where America is heading:
The government elite/shadow government/bankers are planning:
1. Staged shootings to create a media and anti gun frenzy.
2. Stage black against white hatred and violence.
3. Destroy food crops and resources.
4. Cause food prices to sky-rocket.
5. Cause a disaster or allow one to happen that will encourage martial law/police state.
6. Staged elections, like has been happening for a very long time.
7. Get people used to living off the government, welfare.
8. Education degradation, dumbing down public education. (I was home-schooled)
The list goes on and on.

The goal?
Seize all guns so we cannot fight back. They want to control us. Divide, and conquer. I can see it happening, the plans, coming into play. They want to turn us into North Korea/USSR/RedChina

We the people of the United States, citizens, the Republic, Patriots will not go down without a fight. Myself included. We will not be enslaved.

or whatever currency you like:

If I own a weapon, I could possibly use it for ill deeds.
If all weapons are banned, NOBODY but villains would have access to weapons.
(see "Demolition man"... we are police officers, we are not trained for this kind of violence...)

I would like to have a rifle or a handgun, because I like to fire a round now and then, to see if I have lost it or not. I usually shoot a few every five years and find out, yah, I still know how to do it and I'm fine with that.

however.. there are quite strict weaponlaws here, which meakes that either I need to be registered as a hunter (and pass an exam, not hard but costly) or be a member af a recognized weaponsclub, practice enough and get a permit. Or buy a black weapon.....

There are quite a lot of black weapons here. I am not comfortable with black weapons, as they might be tampered with or otherwise not as they should...

But, unless I shell out or shell out in another way, I am restricted to airweapons (ok CO2 also but it's the same)

...while bad peeps can buy a GUN and rob me with it for a sum less than what I need to shell out for the "favour" to be able to keep any gun in a locked cabinet, bolted to wall or floor at all timnes except when I hunt or take it to the range for practice....

Hahah reuben. People outside the USA think Americans are vicious gun toting, wild west maniacs. Well, we just have a weapon of choice, which is modern. Before guns, there were knives, swords, cross-bows, and other primitive articles. I think governments that have complete control over their people, feel safer so that they can do whatever they want to their subjects. But, of course, the government and their law enforcers carry firearms as weapons, although there may be no weapons. And, like you said, someone who breaks the law, and carries out harm against society, is not going to obey it's gun laws. Because frankly, guns don't decide, people do. It's incredible to me to have to explain it that way to some people. As if some chunk of metal has a mind of it's own.
