First, say which version of A6M (A6M2 and A6M5 are totally different in terms of performance) And A6M2 and M3 aren't faster than spit5 here on FH. I don't know much about A6M5 because I've never had a chance to compare it to spitfire's speed.
was an A6M-2 against spit II and A6M-5 against Spit V, but what should i say i was not flying long time, so i thougt, that i can outrun this plane, like i could, a few months ago...was my mistake! next time i take more attention! bvut another question, is there any chance to get a list with the plane settings here on FH??? where i can see, which plane is better in turning, b&z etc? the max-speed charts on this page are imho usless, because they the spit I can outrun an A6M2 till an alt of 9100 m. regards Flihnt
I'm no expert on WWII aircraft but I read the A6M-5 specifically was a rather fast aircraft and not to be considered slow like the earlier models. On the figures I found, the Spitfire is slightly faster at high altitude (above 10,000ft) but at low altitude it would be easily overwhelmed by the extra horsepower of the 14-cilinder, double-roll radial engine of the A6M-5. Spitfire Mk.V top speed = 369 m.p.h. A6M-5 top speed = 358 m.p.h. That Spit.V figure is for high altitude as the Merlin 45 would lose almost 300hp at sea level.
I have tried to found A6Ms' specifications on Internet, and found some differents informations, so I decided to note that. Specifications : A6M5 Engine : Nakajima NK1F Sakae 21 - 1130hp Maximum speed : 351 Mph = 565 Km/h at 6.000 meters A6M3 Engine : Nakajima NK1C Sakae 21 - 1130hp Maximum speed : 336 Mph = 541 Km/h at 6.000 meters A6M2 Engine : Nakajima NK1C Sakae 12 - 940hp Maximum speed : 316 Mph = 509 Km/h at 4.550 meters Regards,
They had an A6M5 with a Nakajima Sakai 21, rated at 1,320 hp. @ 2,600 r.p.m. That's the one that reached 358mph (at 22,000ft). Perhaps was the A6M5b.
they had extended index, including airframe and engine. A6M2 model 21: airframe type 2, engine type 1 (Sakae 12, NK1B or NK1C?) A6M3 model 32: airframe type 3, engine type 2 (Sakae 21, NK1F) A6M5 model 52: airframe type 5, engine type 2 (Sakae 21, NK1F) A6M7 model 63: airframe type 6, engine type 3 (Sakae 31, NK1P)
Just checked and if it was a question, it's A6M5 Model 52 (1943 model) that had the 1,320 hp engine and could reach 576km/h at 22,000ft (6.706m).
