Maybe I am having same problem. Lately, when I enter the arena, my computer totally locks up....all I can do is reboot and try again. Also a friend was getting abnormal program terminations the other day.

    may be all related???

    Regards, oz

My conexion prob. starts on saturday BoB scenery, before that my WBFH was perfect.
A Brazilian user report a prob. in "portunhol forum" with his joystick after the scenery, maybe the scenery was causing problems?

    Thanks

I have also a problem with connection, since ~2 weeks. My IPHelper is showing very good pings (less than 12ms ussually), ping in game is also v.good, but regular (in ~5 minutes intervals) have yellow beacon, then red beacon, and again green and good connect. It's very frustrating. Same thing I have before scenario, but then intervals was shorter, and after red beacon, i had a disco :(. My problems starded ~2 weeks ago, soon after instaling 1.51, but in same time I did a HDD format and system reinstal, and dunno why it's broken, where's fault :(

    Maybe this helps!

    @ Giruts
    @ Beryl

I had a similar problem shortly before the scenario started. Why donґt you read that respective thread: here?
Instead of letting the FH-Helper take the choice of lowest ping, just double klick on the one you prefer. The reason is that sometimes the lowest ping is achieved by ..34.28 and/or ..34.5, both more often show me "Traffic Light" (green, yellow, red) beacon, whenever i enter the tower.

    Give it a try! :deal:

AFAIK, Helper DOES NOT select any IP - it just sorts them. If u don't select one yourself, FHL will use the same IP as the last time

    Hey!

    @ Snakeye

Are you sure, you said AFAIK (as far as you konw).
My FHL always locks on to the lowest ping, the one that shows on top of the list "after sorting".

Would anyone of the FH-Team please comment on this.

I mean, happyness on FreeHost is determined by a good connection to a large extent.

Admins please help to clarify!

it sorts them, but selects the one with lowest ping as soon as you click on "launch".

    hi rapier, hi nicaee,

fh-helper sorts the ips by ping, but you can choose the one you want to have by simple-click to mark it. as soon the chosen ip is dark-grey marked, you click "launch" and you can connect by that ip.
snakeeye is right, when you don't do anything, it stays the same ip than before pinging, fh-helper doesn't force anything to me
    i don't know, if "auto log-in" changes anything, i don't use it.

    Hi Giruts,

what type of connection you use? Modem or ISDN, Cabel or something else?

If you use modem, try to disable V90, V92, K56flex. Use V34, it has enough bandwith to play nice. These V9x and K56 protokolls do sometimes a "rehandshake" and in this time you can't send or receive ip packets... this can be done in some ms or, sometimes on my modem, some seconds, which causes my WB to lost connect to the server and stay on red lamp :-(

    Re: Hey!

Ledada cleared out what I ment
"Launch" or double-click select IP. After that the IP u connect to is written at the top of login/password form.

    Hi giruts,

the same problem i have had, too. If the rehandshake takes too long, i lost the connect too, and the modem hangs up.

How you can change? This is done with AT-commands and these are in this case most of the time specific to the modem manufacturer/chipset. Check your modem manual!

I have two settings, one for WB -> V34 and one for surfing -> V90.

I switch these settings this registry-files, because the settings are read out of the registry and send to the modem then it's initialised.

Which os do you use? I can send my files for Win98SE if you have interest (or better upload here), but maybe you have to change the AT-commands according your modem-manual.
