*Cough* Hi, my name is Lauri.

That's what most people call me in person. (otherwise im just Koponen)

Sometimes ppl call me Laakko or Lartsa.

    Nicks from my past:
laatokka (ekko's sister made it up..one of my fav nicks)
korva (=ear, i used to have relatively big ears when i was small) :)
antenni (=antenna, well... i wasn't very observant in school so teachers used to call me that propably to gain contact. it wasn't success. i had better things to do. anyway..it felt like that was my name in school)
    larppa
    laappo
    kopse (derieved from my surname)
    koppis (derieved from my surname)

heh. being outsider for russian language, my name could not be declined by it's rules. so i always corrected people when they tried to invent grammatical cases of it. probably this lead to that i had no nicknames at all that would chase me for in my life.

kazakh language has one rule for making respectful name and at the same time pet name, that is usually shorter that original name.

(kazakh language (as well as my name) always has accent for last vowel, but i'll mark accented vowel anyways)

for example, "Talgat" would be "Take", "Nurlan" - "Nureke", "Bahytzhan" - "Bake", "Nazhmetdin" - "Nake" etc. accoring to this rule, my respectful/pet name would be "Yedyke" that makes no gain at all for calling me with tender or thrill :D

my nicks are mostly game/computer nicks:
    Wizard (left as too popular)
DUC (specially sought short word. Eagle-owl or Duke in French) used until today, though rarely.
Corvus (lat. Raven. left as too pretentious)
Duke Nukem (for Quake/DeltaForce-clones, left with quitting Quake. never liked this game).
EXEC (specially invented by Julian for my request for easy-to-type nick for old Wabirds without mouse check-six feature. Soon after that Julian shortened his nick for WB to JUL by the same reason).
Killer Crayon, as artifically complicated to gain uniqueness in ICQ, used since my first ICQ installation until now.

ah. just recalled. Julian (Arman) calls me Kesha. It occasionally coinsides with short form of another name Innokentiy (innocent). in repulse i name him Ashick without any sence. :D

    Woohoo!!

    Mine too :)

But I also get Raymond (full name), Raymondo, Raymonty, and Foxy (derived from surname).

Nick started out as ozemale69 (used ever since I started on internet), which originated as a play on an ISP in Oz, but later had different meaning. Easy answer when asked A/S/L....see nick. Later became ozemale6t9, since some servers won't allow '69' in nick due to sexual connotations. Shortened to ozmale for 6 character log-ins.

    Regards, Oz

Wow! Now this is a nice thread!!!! :)

My name is Sebastiaan Franciscus Kemp. Sebastiaan is the Dutch version of "sebastian" (that must be a surprise, eh?), which is derived from Greek: "the mighty one".
I'm usually called "Bas", but since most international (read: English) people cannot pronounce this (it always comes out something like "Boss") they are allowed to call me "Sebbo" or "Seb". Hence the nicks I use here, sebbo- and basman.

My second name comes from my grandfather, who was named "frans". I don't know what "Franciscus" means though...

And my familiy-name is Kemp, which might mean many different things. It might be belgian ("De Kempen" is a region in Belgium), it might be archaic German/Dutch (In old days "kemp" meant "to fight") or it might be English (I've been told "Kemp" is archaic english for a certain crop called "hemp" (cannabis sativa) nowadays).

So my name is "The Mighty Weed" :)

Nicknames, I got loads of those... Bassie, Basje, Basman, Sebbo, Sebbie, Seb (Pronounced "Sepp"), Aso (Anti-social, that's what they call me at work), "Brulboei" (loudmouth, in my band), Sletje ("Little Slut", my SR calls me that), ad nauseatum!
