I once flew in a Fuji "Aero Subaru", but that was AAAAAGES ago.

Nowadays I use my friend Michel's "Peal"-kite to get airborne. :) A 4 m2 two-liner, develops about 1000 N's of force at 8 bft. Really cool to jump 15 meters with that thing!

mutch expensive: engine(new) and propeller 3000e so you can find olds for1000e

    instruments(new): 1500e

    wood, "skin"....wheels,materials for comand....4500e

7500 8000 is the middle for a single sit ul self made.

the advantage is that the money is progressively spendt during the building
    4 years for me: 2000e/year

the cheaper way to have ur UL is buy one old but there's no pleasure of building your OWN AIRPLANE :) and not a proto.

Cause my first pleasure is live the pionniers adventure, drawer, builder and test pilot.
More, politicaly, i want to show others that's possible and aviation is not only airbus buisness.
in a pescimistic view, we can imagine that in the future people like you and me will be able to fly only in a 380 charter or on a PC.
