    I was at work and I found a 1940 Canadian penny.

    I was wondering if anyone knew if this coin would be at all valuable? It'd be nice to know :) Thanks for your help!

    AFAIK only the very limited editions of XXth century U.S./Canadian coins are worth enough to say that they are collectible items. Same with European coins after 1800 AD... once I found a XIth century dinar on a trip outside my town- that coin isn't worth much either (40USD approx) although it is over 900 years old.

    So sorry bud, but I'm affraid that isn't a case of your found- better check yourself:
    https://www.jandm.com/defaultsecure.htm

    this site lists price of 1940 Canadian Cent from 0.25 to 20 canadian Dollars, depending on the mint... the price referrs to the coins which have so called 1st state of consercation (no visible marks of usage), used coins are priced lower.

    Frog you collect coins?
    I have nice large collection but I never checked out if there is a coin or paper money that wroth something ( tho I wouldn't sell it due sentimental value ). I left it behind me in the war shaken country and retreived back after 7 years. Not a piece missing.
    Do you know nice site on the net where they do estimation?

    regards
    ronin

    @ronin

    It was my hobby ... few years ago I'm affraid :( I still have some coins, but mainly the pieces I found myself and not collectible items... some of them quite old, but mostly pre-WWI "youngsters".
