I know that this kind of subject has already been talked about, but I want to buy a new joystick, I have a logitech wingman extrem, it was a good stick but it's getting old and the handle is pretty loose, so aiming has become really problematic when your sight jumps off the target all the time.

I'm looking for a stick that would be very firm on the hande (that it won't jumpe, that has not deadspace)

Let me know which one would be the best and why?

Thank you, and the one who gets me to buy the stick will get a beautiful picture of me with my bla bla lba... (see topic about the FH nationalities)

Well, if you don't want force feed back, I would sujest the Logitech wingman Interceptor, Its cheap, digital, has 11 buttons, has throttle, has comfortable handle, its durable ((drop mine many times)) and has small deadband

I broke my Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital into 2 pieces of .... (fill in as you prefer). So I needed a good new stick, after checking out all the sticks of the moment, I've came to the end conclusion that the best cost effective stick was the Thrustmaster Top-Gun Afterburner, that is exactly one year ago, right now there is an Afterburner II on the shelves as far as I know...

It features a very pleasant grip, an 8 way hat, an independant throttle (4 buttons and a rudder control) on the stick itself there are 4 buttons and another rudder control (what rudder control that is used can be selected by switching a "lever" on the back, you could call it a switch button).

8 buttons in total, 4 axis, long cable, comfortable grip, good lay out, steady, adjustable stifness (don't expect too much of it), throttle and stick can be brought together easily...

Well I love my Sidewinder Precision Pro 1.
But I didn't quite like the fell of the Precision Pro 2... and from what I could read in the net the saitek products seem pretty good (here in portugal they dont sell saitek in the stores.. go figure).
I've heard that the Sidewinder Force feedback was pretty good too, but I don't like the feedback part :p .

Ms SideWinder Force Feedback Pro 1

About 9 buttons, cap, 3-axis stick(x,y and z- spining, good rudder) and a throttle thingie, a really convinent one.

Feedback sucks and slows down most games. The only game that is fun to play with feedback is motocross madness. Fun and no slowdowns. :)

Cool part is that you can turn automatic centering off. Yep, stick does not return to center. Almost no force at all is needed to move the stick. Quite unusual, but it rules after you get used to it. Great acurate control over aircraft and you can play with just one finger if you want. :)

And the conclusion:
Get Sidewinder Precicion. :)

And what about pedals, mine has a rotary handle, does it do a lot of difference having pedals?

I have Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D too, Tipiss; I've disassembled it, put the potentiometer of twisty rudder to the right place (a drop of glue could help a lot), and now it's pretty okay for me. I think the people who made it didn't take care of the assemblage just patched it up. Anyways, a rudder pedal would be more realistic, I am sure.

Hi Tipiss,

>And what about pedals, mine has a rotary handle, does it do a lot of difference having pedals?

A world of difference :) Rudder pedals are de-coupled from the hand movements, which makes aiming (and flying) much easier and more precise.

I have a complete set of CH equipment (F-16 Fighterstick, CH Throttle, CH Pro Pedals) which I'm very happy with.

It's the old, pre-USB, analogue equipment though - not quite up to date, but at least I never have any Windows driver trouble since it requires no drivers at all :)

Regards,

Henning (HoHun)

yup, same stick here. and same indestructability!

tipiss.. if you ever buy a saitek x36, dont ever replace those ceramic resistors with optic gizzmos.. -denis sent his stick for that upgrade a year ago and i havent seen him in arena since!

I have a Sidewinder Precision Pro that is 3 years old plus other spares I bought off eBay (http://search-desc.ebay.com/search/...nder+precision+pro+-gamepad+-force&srchdesc=y).
I've repaired my stick many times from wear and tear. I put up a webpage on how to take it completely apart and repair anything step by step, but it's gone so I'm looking to get that up again. If you guys wanted, I could repair yours free as well if you want to send it to me :)
This in my opinion is the best stick all around with the most functions and simple to use. I don't like the SWPP II because of it's lack of extra buttons and the feel is strange. The throttle is kinda odd too. :)

I do have a CH Pro Stick, Rudder Pedals, and Throttle I purchased off eBay but never used. I could'nt get the hang of it after using the SWPP.
