2005-05-25 Power failure in Moscow

    lasted during 6 hours on the half of Moscow territory.
    cellular retranslators, internet hosters, etc etc, including clinics and hospitals.
    of course, including FH/TH too.

    power is currently up again.

    saw it on the news. Why happened? They said it was an intermediate station tha exploded...

    i was in blackout! 6 hours!

    was it Moscow transmitting?!?

    I hear it on the news also ,thousands of ppl stuck in subways allmost sufficating...,hundres of traffic accidents at same time cause trafficlights vent off...huh terrible ..I heard the was a fire in the powerstation and after they put it out ,there was an explosion ,which damaged the system ,due the old machinery ...I tried to log in to FH ,and allmost started a thread cause i didn't get in,but then news flash came on ...

    no. one of principal transformators fallen out (it even exploded during failure :)).
    currency flow was redirected to other transformators that were not prepared for increased load. so some of other transformators failed to, again raising load to the rest ones. it was a kind of chain reaction. :)
