    Hola,

    One simple question;

    My friend is on delegation in Spain right now and I would like to ask her to bring me something "veeery Spanish" and "veeery stylish"..something that "represents" Spain in some way...what would you recommend? Should be relatively cheap and easy to buy.
    And no, I don't want Seat Ibiza or anything like that :)

    Ele? Broz? Big-jo? anyone? ideas...

    Well, there are a lot of things that "represent" Spain, but i wouldn't (actually i don't) have them in my house. E.g, a doll dancing flamenco, a bull head, or something like that. If i were asked on how to promote my country, i for sure would say, something related with gastronomy. Maybe a good "Rioja" wine (about 25-30 Euros you can have a quite good one), or some good meat from the North of Spain (if she'll travel in plane, watch out).
    And, of course, she might get with her some good recipes to try there :)

    LOL CIerzo, those dancing dolls, or the bull's heads are.... well... crap :)

    However I must agree with you in the wine thing. HJM, Spain has very good wine, but Cierzo surely doesn't buy a lot... Cierzo, those prices are too high. If you want a good wine, HJM, tell your friend to buy Muga, or C.V.N.E., or "Marques de Caceres", or even "Prado Enea" and for the prices... maybe something around 15-20 Euros.

    If you don't like wine, there are a lot of different alcohols typical of spain, I usually recommend "Pacharan" to the foreigners, it's 20-25°, and almost all my foreign buddies that have tried it said it was good. Must be served cold, or with ice, and is usually taken after eating (but you can drink it before too :D ). She can buy you this brand: "Las Endrinas" it's a good quality and at a reasonable price.

    If you prefer food, she can buy "Jamon", but the prices to have a real good one are... well, expensive. She can have a kilo or two packed for travel at "El corte ingles", but it's quite expensive.

    Does this helps or do you need other ideas?

    no no, and one thousand fucking times, i say fucking no. Spain is not the same as Mexico. Mariachis are mexican. Flamenco is Spanish. Baseball is American (or Cuban ;)), and tea is English. Ok? I'll knife fight anyone who says again that spanish have tacos, burritos, mariachis and tequila. And i mean it...

    thinking of what I usually bring from spain.. eh
    tell her to bring you some food.. meat products.. especially jamon - you can;t get this thingie in C europe usually;
    wine too of course, good rioja never hurts; no need to get expensive one as guys are suggesting, for the baltic guy any drinkable wine is perfect :]
    also if she can get some fresh fruit from market (in other words if she is going to the very south - granada, almeria, malaga) tell her to bring some tropical fruit.. like chirimoyas (i bet you cant get these anywhere but in spain .. in europe).. or some juicy mango... well even exported stuff like oranges or grapefruits taste so much better there than imported sweetless shit you can buy here

    well.. of course she can bring you some souveniers.. but eh.. since she was there and not you there will be no feeling for you associated with the thing,, it will be just "the spanish thing",, or "thing from her" .. if it is going to be food.. you can "feel" something spanish at least :)

    Thanks!

    Well ok...I guess it will be a wine then...but still I would like something "less eatable" :)...maybe some clothing? :) to not to speak about souvenirs exclusively...

    PS. no sombreros or how do u call it...
