I have no idea how that happened, since i've only started playing recently. I think I remember you shooting at me though, but I left the tank to drive to the field while I went to watch TV, so it must have gone over a mountain and messed up.

    disclaimer: afaik

since terrain format is not fully explored, ground level altitude is not not taken directly from terrain itself, but calculated by procedure, coded by aike or breedr. hmacks are server-side objects, and they use this function.

i'd classify this as a minor bug.

    disclaimer:
I don't KNOW, this is what I GUESS:

    When in jeep/hmack,
if you drive away to attack a comm or just for a pleasant drive (prrrrt!)
and approach a hill, you seem to go through the hill.
This leads me to think that ground vehicles ALWAYS maintain their original altitude.

I suppose that this tank might have started at a field with higher elevation than where it is when the pictures were taken, and that's why the tank "flies"?

(spuint, this is where you join the conversation and tells me that I'm wrong :D)

    well u r, see execs explanation ;)

sayin this more simple - heightmap for hmacks and tanks are not taken from the terrain we see (well, not directly - according to what exec says)

btw havent u drove hmack throught the mountain yet? :) u would observe it does change its alt ;)

and going lower that starting altitude is possible too - just drive to the shore somewhere

At least flying tanks/hmacks are better that when they were digging under ground, while shooting was impossible to do.

Right, spuint, I have not driven through the mountains, only "through" hills.
So, as I said, you join to tell me I'm wrong :D
And, cc, Snakeeye I had forgotten about the jeeps coming to shore does go lower than starting alt.
