cc, with AŠ-82 FN engine, i need with VK-107A because with AŠ-82 FN was made only one prototype i think...
I never heard of Yak-3 in the Korean war, but some of Yak-9, Yak-17 & Yak-18. Maybe Yak-3 was in French Indochina?
1) 2) http://www.maxwell.af.mil/au/afhra/wwwroot/aerial_victory_credits/avc_korean.html find string "YAK 3" pilots:FLAKE ALMA R, KRATT JACOB JR, MCCULLEY JAMES A, THRESHER ROBERT D 3)
I must have a 3-view and a photo of the Yak-3U in one of my books, but quality is awful. Can scan it if you want.
Yak-3U never existed. There was Yak-3W with radial engine ASh-82. Plane was superb, but they built only 1. May be you think about Yak-9U with VK-107 engine? In Korean war Soviets used Yak-9P, a metallic variant of Yak-9U with one 37mm and 2x23mm cannons. This plane was very heavy and often downed by Mustangs
Aha! That is among the reasons for US propogandist press implying yak9 was junk. I always wondered about that... Take a F-51 and stick three great big cannons in it and see how high performance it is... Yeah.
I think in Korea it was all Yak-9P. See: http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/yak3/yak3vk107/yak3vk107.html Nice studies on other VVS planes on the same page BTW.
