    Did you write it correctly?

Did you try google http://www.google.com/search?hl=ru&q=msmgs&btnG=Поиск&lr= as Reuben told? :)

Check 2nd link in the list. I guess it's needed to kill the process named "msmgs.exe", find and delete that file and delete it from the startup using standard WinXP "msconfig.exe" utility.

But you should do that ONLY if you write process name correctly "msmgs.exe", not "msmsgs.exe". Otherwise you can only disable MSN startup using MSN settings or/and "msconfig.exe" ;)

    1. Lavasoft AdAware
    2. Spybot - Search&Destroy

    This should help

And Norton was teh pwnzr program for viruses.

    In the 1980's.

I have not used Norton AV since 1996. Nowadays I use AVG Free edition. (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1)
    I can also recommend (http://www.free-av.com/)
I stopped using the german program some time a year ago, when the update was unreachable. I think it works ok now (my sister uses it and has no complains) but I am happy with AVG and I am too lazy to switch back :)

As for trojans and crap, follow holmes' advice.

Please try unload/stop (using control panel-services tab) the services/programs, like:

    - AVG antivirus
    - Norton/Symantec products
    - MSN
    - Giant/Microsoft AntiSpyware product

So the most stuff you have isnt 3v1L, but you could speed up your puter by disabling a few autostarting things.

The ones in quicklaunch usually have option "autostart" that you can set to "No" so to speak. Should be info in helpfiles if you encounter problems

I prefer AVG all day compared to Norton.

Reuben, you are damn crazy :) Did you post comments using google?

Gunits, if you want to disable some software use the following tools:

Start -> Run -> type "msconfig.exe" and go to the last "startup" tab

And use the Control Panel -> Administration -> Services to stop "unnecessary services"

Well. It seemed poor gunitz didnt have the time himself, so :shuffle:

It got quite boring (real soon :dunno: ) but what the heck.
To my inexperienced eye gunitz has like 50% stuff that sucks power, all those autostarters... But if gunitz uses them, an uninstall is bad, an autostart disabling is good.

Or get copies of tsr proggies:
    'startup control panel' and 'startupmonitor.'
They seem to be pretty powerful combination. Defeats new.net a nootorius near un-deletable spyware and others.
