    OK. I'm really confused.

Can some of our Russian-Eastern European friends here please tell the rest of us what is going-on there and why?

Is it that Georgia broke away from Russia and then Georgia wants to annex Ottesia, so Russia came to the rescue of the people with Russian passports in Ottesia?????

Is there any oil there? Are there ethnic Russians there? is there a large population of non-europeans or moslems there?

    Wasn't Stalin an ethnic Georgian?

What is going on there from your perspectives?

A few opinions in English please!

    :dunno:

IMHO now we have the same situation like it was in 1939. when Germany attacked Poland. After Georgia, Ukraine will be the next country, which will be attacked by the RuSSia for sure. UN do nothing like in 1939... God, save the Earth, please.

New Hitler came back. We have WW III right now...

    russian point of view:

1.south ossetia was joined to georgia by ussr in the beginning of 20century
northern ossetia stayed in russia. georgia forced ossetia to use georgian script. russian made ossetia to use cyrillic based script. ossetia became artifically separated.

2.georgians somehow dislike ossetinians and abkhasians from abkhasia
there been several conflicts in 199x.

3.south ossetia and abkhasia tends to be separate from georgia, probably wishing to join russia.

4.there are many russian citisens in ossetia (dunno about abkhasia). many is probably about of half of population. of course ossetia tends to join russia. however, no plebiscites on this matter were conducted.

5.to prevent ethnic conflicts, UN delegated russia to be peace-makers in the ossetia.

6.unknown fighters, probably russian (that is denied), stated as abkhasian shot down up to 7 georgian unmanned recon aircrafts of israeli production over abkhasia. georgia accuse russia in intervention into internal georgian affairs.

7.georgia tired of separatist movement of ossetia decided to attack it with regular army, trained by usa (because georgia was preparing to join NATO). georgia dramatically increased army budget last years, somehow about 30 times up. the reason was restoring of constitutional order.

8.georgian army bombarded tskhinvali with MLRS artillery systems early in the morning, killing about 2000 civilians at once.

9.then the army offended into tskhinvali and several villages on the border between georgia and ossetia. there is a tunnel to north of tskhinvali, so blocking it georgians would prevent increase of russian garrison.
of course several cases of war crimes were committed. russians accuse georgians in genocide.

10.very probably russian garrison was already on tskhinvali side of tunnel, so several hours later russian army divided attacking units of georgia into two parts, encircling northern one. georgia failed to control the tunnel.

11.being encircled, northern part of georgian forces tried to retreat several times, but russian forces prevented that. southern forces of georgia could not penetrate encirclement as well.

12.abkhasian military forces attacked georgian forces nearby because of sympathy to ossetia. both regions want to separate from georgia, and abkhasians supposed that georgia will attack abkhasia after ossetia.

13.president of georgia tried to commit suicide, but was stopped by his own guard.

14.he also tries to attract the world to side of georgia. but usa renounced to send military assist to georgia since it is not YET a member of nato. usa's presense is limited by demands and later proposals of cease-fire to russia. putin and medvedev answered that war criminals would be punished.

15.several russian missile boats went to patrol ashore of abkhasia with declared mission of isolating abkhasia from sea. some analytics say that russian navy would blockade georgia as well. this patrol sunk one georgian missile boat approached abkhasia, forcing three more to retreat into fog.

16.russia bombed central radar control post of georgia somewhere in mountains, and dropped a bomb into tbilisi (tiflis), a capital of georgia. that bomb was probably intended for ammo dump. russians say that civilian casualties were minor until weapon began detonating. also russia answers that in kosovo nato insistently bombed targets several hundreds kilometers from conflict area, such as danube bridges and bukharest.

17.russian forces keep pushing georgian forces from ossetia and could follow them into georgian territory.

    as far as i understood.

mykola, u're stupid moron. did bitchasvhilli bite you? just to begin with.

the situation is looks like georgia invaded south ossetia and georgian troops began to shoot at civilians and also russian peacemakers. about 15 of them was killed. that's why russian army was advanced to help to protect russian citizens. just as tidings about RA appeared, georgians ran in panic from ruined and literally raped city of Tskhinval. bitchashvili immediately started to cry a shitty brat about "evil'n'bloody russians" attacking georgia.
so that's how it looks in brief.

that is in romania.. pretty far from kosovo :D

    and its in NATO :D

btw, never been bombed since ww2

and the danube bridges were only on serbian territory, not those where serbia has a border with another country ( i.e. romania)

As you see russians have nothing to say, only "stupid", "attack", "destroy", "kill". Russia killed thousands of woman and children in Georgia. This is the russian way to be happy.

Georgian ambassador is basically calling for western intervention in an interview on CNN right now. I fucking don't think so! Those fuckers dug themselves a nice hole, fell into it and now want the west to fight WWIII to help them get out of it?! Sorry Georgia, but I think you've bitten off a bit more than you can chew.

Sorry all, i'm answer in a russian, can't translate to english. All volonteurs can translate to engl...
