error 6

    Hi folks

    I have updated XP instalation with SP3 from Bill and I cant start game from launcher. Effects in Windows display are off and 98 compatibility on.

    Any suggestions?

    Error 6? According to MSDN, error code 6 stands for "The handle is invalid." ... which admittedly is not a very useful piece of information in this context. :dunno:

    Somehow I don't believe FH is written in Visual Basic. ;P

    Does "Practice Offline" work or does that bomb, too?

    Info: XP Prof SP3

    1. Click Go Online ( Win98 compatibility in the shortcut /or wihout also doesnt work)
    2. VV server list -> click > ...error

    To be precise its started after update to sp3

    Why Win98 compatibility? I don't need it, I do nothing after installation.

    btw: have you tried reinstall FHL after SP3 installation?

    Hmm, maybe your firewall is blocking the Launcher application?

    EDIT: If the FH launcher is coded in such a way that it doesn't check whether it actually succeeded in creating a socket and then proceeded to try and do stuff with the socket, that could explain the "invalid handle" error.


    EDIT2: Nah, forget this one. I just tried this out with my firewall. That's not it.

    i reinstalled , restarted , it i think in all possible ways.
    with Win98 compatibility or without it just generate same message with error 6

    So till now I shall recomend to all
    DO NOT INSTALL SP3 FOR XP

    Shut down your firewall/&AV for a moment and try it...

    I have SP3 too and no problems ;)
