Since there have been threads about asking help for scholar assigments (hi nicae) and such, I thought about asking if any of the forum members is working for a company/is capable to get me the price for 6-8 surveillance cameras? with tcp/ip (so it'll be over the net), needed recording devices for the system, and with english manuals? IR versions would be good, but not a necessity I think. And no. I'm not making a porno flick. Sorry al/vasco/spuint/rest of the poles. [edited: added the "not" ]
well, first of all, ir is a must for good night porn material, so you should think to record in any conditions to make the whole system worth its price you need rj45 or wifi cameras? ill ask a friend
wired cams would be sufficient. I'll just hide the cables.... Recorder could be digi (do they even sell analog anymore?) and no. IT'S NOT FOR PORN! (well, maybe a bit, but not much....) @al: Ouch. that really hurted. What have I done?
Are you looking to have each camera have its own link independently to the internet? How far away are the cameras going to be from each other and power and communication lines? I have seen packaged systems of 6~8 cameras, cable and a PCI card for anywhere from $500 to $1,000 US. Stores like Radio Shack, Fry's Electronics in the US and south America too. I've read some articles (don't have them handy now- too much reading about the Roman navy lately ) where they take these cheap USB night vision cameras for around $30.00 each with USB connections to a hub and computer and then reflash a Linksys WTR54G router with some Linux program and then the whole thing is programmed to be an internet accessible video surveillance system. Only thing was the cheap usb cams did not have pan and zoom feature. Hope this helps.
Probably it would be simpliest to have all cameras linked to one recorder/server that's connected to internet. Distance isn't a problem since I've attached cameras even up to 200m via UTP cable. So I'll just use the cables that the thing needs. Power isn't a problem either (though I'm not looking for USB powered cameras). I'm certified to use any current I see fit... Cheap USB cameras has that downside that usually the image isn't satisfying for surveillance. I need something a bit better (car make, license plate from 50-100m, face from 10-30m). Checked the radio shack prices, and thinking about starting to import that stuff to f-land...(someone is taking quite nice profit here....)
