Well, if you live in the South of the USA, this song will often appear:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COGY0mJYGtc

It's a great song, really, if you remember the South of the US before the 80's

    Lynrd Skynrd's "Sweet Home Alabama"

BTW, it's not a song so much about Alabama as it is a song about the South. The most important thing was that it responded to criticism from the North :)

    Turn this one up

I don't know how many tall ones I hoisted listinin to this tune. The live recording, it was a double album, I don't remember the tyte, anyway, the live version went for 18 minutes. 4 guys playing lead guitar.

I LOVE THAT OL' SOUTHRON SOUND.

5 minutes 15 seconds into the piece, is where every single hair I had stood up in a wave. It was like coming.
    HOLY FUCK.....
    Gotta like it.
    I am born again!!!!!!!!!!

Right,...That's a great song, when I played it I got a girlfriend from the audience for 2½ years :p which I called 'The black rose', she was too beatiful :) but, how about this one? Is this the 'new south'?, (I mean the audience :) ) thought, that kind of act might get some chicks for gold riders :shuffle:

That is a great song. However let's remember that Neil Young wrote a song in response to that tune:

Another great song about the times.

    hey mcloud and biles ;)

    Hide your face forever
    dream and search forever

Have you ever been for sale ?
    when your isms get smart
    oh so selfish and mindless
with that comment in your eye

Do you think that you are hard ?
    really harder than the other
    man you're acting cold
if you are not in charge

    Don't split your mentality
    without thinking twice
your voice has got no reason
now is the time to face your lies

Open your eyes, open your mind
proud like a god don't pretend to be blind
trapped in yourself, break out instead
beat the machine that works in your head

Will you offer me some tricks
    if I ever need them
would you go into that room
    if I call 'em

Do you think that you are better
    really better than the rest
    realize there's a problem
I know that you can give your best

Have you ever had a dream?
or is life just a trip?
    a trip without chances
a chance to grow up quick

Open your eyes, open your mind
proud like a god don't pretend to be blind
trapped in yourself, break out instead
beat the machine that works in your head

    Hide your face forever
    dream and search forever
night and night you feel nothing
there's no way outside of my land

Open your eyes, open your mind
proud like a god don't pretend to be blind
trapped in yourself, break out instead
beat the machine that works in your head

Open your eyes, open your mind
proud like a god don't pretend to be blind
trapped in yourself, break out instead
beat the machine that works in your head

    Open you eye's

    Hello again ---it's me

    Your shoulder's where I sit
    The half,nobody sees,of a silent partnership
I am here---your help at hand

    I'm never far away
A clear view from where I stand
I'll be there if you need me

    I am your helping hand
My words---you've heard them all before
It's only for the sake of love

It's gonna be a new day for you
    A new day for you
The stars have played their part
The past is gone and done
    Have more faith in love
The best is yet to come

So what is this I here

    you deserve a break

Take time to think it out
    Don't make a new mistake
I am here---your help at hand

It's gonna be a new day
    for you
A new day for you,new day for you,new day for you
The stars have played their part
The past is gone and done
    Have more faith in love
The best is yet to come

My words---you've heard them all before
It's only for the sake of love

The stars have played their part
The past is gone and done
    Have more faith in love
    The best is

It's gonna be a new day for you
A new day for you,new day for you,new day for you
It's gonna be a new day for you
A new day for you,new day for you,new day for you

    Hello again ---it's me

As a New Yorker, I think Southerners always get a bad rap post 1960s (or 1975). Seriously. I'm a Yankee, but I think people get along better in the South now than in the North.

    Hey Uncles;

Yes, living in the South is most likely "better" these days than in the North.

That is if you are a white male and do not speak with too much of a northern (Yankee) accent !

There is still a certain level of civility in the South but beware that civility is only a fine veneer hiding fundamental Christian/Baptist/white supremist feelings and mistrust of "auslanders" (Northerners- Westerners and Liberal idealist who promote or believe in equality of the sexes and races and religion.)

You do not get that feeling of "senseless jungle hate" right away from being in the South as you do in any big city of the North, but it's not that it doesn't exist.
They are only being polite.... just like in China or Japan; all smiles and bowing and "Yes-yes-yes-please" but behind that is disgust and the genuine wish that you leave and never show-up again.

I think Neil Young's song rings truer that Lynard Skynard's.

Sweet Home Alabama is a great place if you are White.

    A little history lesson:

Mexico offered free land for farmers who would grow crops for some number of years.
Hordes of white people came down from Alabama to settle the Texas fields of Mexico.
A little problem started in that those white people from Alabama brought their slaves with them to do the work.
Mexico had abolished slavery around 1829. Well that didn't fit well with the Alabamans and that was the start of the Texas 'war for independance" the freedom for white people to have slaves in the great American tradition.......:(

    For reub:

    :D

Jag ska dricka min öl, yeaheah.
Ska köra min moppe bland polisbil-lamporna.
    Och jag hittar polisen, ölflaska.
    Jag knulla polishund, ja.

    (chorus)
Jag är nazi, jag är nazi.
    Jag är Sverige-skinhead.
Jag är nazi, jag är nazi.
    Jag är Sverige-skinhead.

Ja min kamraterna Pelle och Mats.
Är också faschister, rasister och skinheads.
    Vi är rakar, rakar skinhuvud.
Titta Pelle "kackade" på R-kiosken, fönstret.

    (chorus x3)
Jag är nazi, jag är nazi.
    Jag är Sverige-skinhead.
Jag är nazi, jag är nazi.
    Jag är Sverige-skinhead

Oh... I've seen quite a lot of music videos&clips, but this is probably one of the most abstract, avant-garde and metaphoric ever.

Actually, I first heard this song in a very, very different clip ;) Care to have a look?

Well, I'm trying not to stray too far into OT - so here's one from me:
Poets of the Fall - Carnival of Rust

    D' you breath the name
Of your saviour in your hour of need,
    And taste the blame
If the flavor should remind you of greed?

Of implication, insinuation and ill will,
    Till' you cannot lie still,
In all this turmoil, before red cape and foil
Come closing in for a kill...

    Come feed the rain,
Cos I'm thirsty for your love,
Dancing underneath the skies of lust.
    Yeah feed the rain,
Cos without your love my life
Ain't nothing but this carnival of rust!

It's all a game, avoiding failure,
    When true colors will bleed.
All in the name of misbehavior
And the things we don't need.

I lust for after no disaster can touch,
    Touch us anymore.
And more than ever, I hope to never fall,
Where enough is not the same it was before...

    Come feed the rain,
Cos I'm thirsty for your love,
Dancing underneath the skies of lust.
    Yeah feed the rain,
Cos without your love my life
Ain't nothing but this carnival of rust!

Don't walk away, don't walk away, oh, when the world is burning
Don't walk away, don't walk away, oh, when the heart is yearning

    "Tempted" by Squeeze

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UuU4mX1qnk&feature=related

    (I bought a toothbrush)

I bought a toothbrush, some toothpaste, a flannel for my face
Pajamas, a hairbrush, new shoes and a case
I said to my reflection, let's get out of this place
Passed the church and the steeple, the laundry on the hill
Billboards and the buildings, memories of it still keep calling and calling
But forget it all, I know I will

Tempted by the fruit of another, tempted but the truth is discovered
What's been going on, now that you have gone
There's no other, tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered

I'm at the car park (ooh) the airport, the baggage carousel (Ooh ooh ooh)
(Ooh ooh ooh) (The people keep on grabbing)
(Ooh ooh ooh) (And wishing I was well)
(Ooh ooh ooh) I said, it's no occasion (Ooh ooh ooh) (it's no story I can tell)
At my bedside, empty pocket, a foot without a sock
(Do, do, do-do, do, do, do, do-do, do)
Your body gets much closer, I fumble for the clock
(Do, do, do-do, do, do, do, do-do, do)
Alarmed by the seduction (Do, do, do-do, do, do, do, do-do, do)
I wished that it would stop (Do, do, do-do, do, do, do, do-do, do)

(Ooh) Tempted by the fruit of another (ooh ooh ooh)
(Ooh) Tempted but the truth is discovered (ooh ooh ooh)
What's been going on, now that you have gone?
There's no other (ooh, ooh ooh ooh) tempted by the fruit of another
(Ooh) Tempted but the truth is discovered (ooh ooh ooh)

I bought a novel, some perfume, a fortune all for you
(Do, do, do-do, do, do, do, do-do, do)
But it's not my conscience that hates to be untrue
(Do, do, do-do, do, do, do, do-do, do)
I asked of my reflection, tell me what is there to do
(Do, do, do-do, do, do, do, do-do, do, do, do, do, do, do)

(Ooh) Tempted by the fruit of another (ooh ooh ooh)
(Ooh) Tempted but the truth is discovered (ooh ooh ooh)
What's been going on, now that you have gone?
There's no other (ooh, ooh ooh ooh) tempted by the fruit of another
(Ooh) Tempted but the truth is discovered (ooh ooh ooh)
Hah! (Ooh) Tempted by the fruit of another (ooh ooh ooh)
    [What's been going on?]
(Ooh) Tempted but the truth is discovered (ooh ooh ooh)
    [What's been going on?]
(Ooh) Tempted by the fruit of another (ooh ooh ooh)
    [What's been going on?]
(Ooh) Tempted but the truth is discovered (ooh ooh ooh)
    [What's been going on?]

Southern rock is good sometimes. The live version of "free Bird" by Lynard Skynard rocks good. Builds nicely like Stairway to heaven. Good slide guitar. Tight guitar playing kinda like a good pipe and drum band too. It's good like they practised it sober before they went on stage and everything. After I listen to it, I can tell telemarketers to fuck right off and utter threats and I honestly don't care if they call the cops.

    :dark: :nono: :D

Hey loose. Yeah tempted was a good tune. It's rare to see british bands with that kind of soul. Squeeze had 3 good songs: tempted, Another nail in my heart, Pulling mussels. If I didn't love you was allright too. The tunes by squeeze that are "classic" like annie get your gun and stuff by people who like early 80's rock are tasteless to me. I don't get it.

Squeeze was good only because of Paul Carrack.
