Hey reuben, good to see you :)

Thanks exec. Can it be downloaded for a fee, or do I have to buy a physical disk? I lost my old one...

Is there different versions of IL2 available now? What is the actual disk I want to order - just the basic IL2: Sturmovik game?

I think the latest version, being Il2: 1946 prototypes, or whatever it is called exactly. There should be only one version with the year 1946 in its name :)

    Zem!

Hows things mate? Did you ever finish your studies and get a real job?! :p

Hope all is well with you man. I've just been talking to Xavi, we were talking about Bas and his missus - they might be coming over my way this year.

What you been up to lately? You in the air these days?

    Yeah studies just about finished.

Aaah yes, Bas still jumps in from time to time. Been ages since I've seen Achtung though.

I flew once again, few months ago. Then real life caught up with me again and I didn't really clock in any air time after that :)

I'll be back in the air this weekend, if all goes well. Hope you think about dusting down your stick and joining me for a flight or 2 :)

I'll end up getting my arse kicked otherwise :p

If you have STEAM, you can get IL2 there, the jap variant and also 1946.
If you do not live in northcorea or such *sic, there's a thing direct2drive, where you can download it for a fee.

I don't earn bonus for telling you ;)

If you get it from steam, then there is one directory that is missing in that copy and you need to create it by hand, or it won't work online. Let me know if you go that way. Dunno about the other thing that reub posted.

Both versions (from Steam and D2D) cost £9.95 so I would be as well getting it from D2D, if the Steam version has a file missing.

I'll see if I can find a disk in the shops tomorrow, i'm sure i've seen it going cheap :)

It's a FOLDER that is missing, an empty folder at that. No need to copy any files from anyone, just need to create a folder in the proper place and that's that :)

So how does it work, doing it thru steam al?

Do they keep a record of it with my login so that, if I have to re-format my hard drive, I can just install and login to steam again, and it will be there?

Do I have to launch it through the steam program?

Sorry for the stoopid questions :D

I have no idea, I've never bought a game through steam before, but personally I prefer to keep my games as *.iso images on my hard drive ;)

Anyway, if something does happen and you lose the ability to play/install that game... you already bought it, so the way I see it you can get a copy from anywhere you like.

If u purchase it from stem, you can redownload if crach or change computer.
Same w the D2D, you get some record of purchases. they call it sth else, cant recall.

If u do use steam and migrate to new computer its faster to 'physically' move files instead of redownloading though.

I guess you need to launch from steam, yeas
