Hi, I've been flying a little bit on my loved P39Q, and I noticed some strange behavior in it..... I've been flying here for nearly 5 months, and since my second ToD I'm a complete lover of this great machine, I was used to do a little bit of turn fighting with it, I know it's a B&Z machine, but.... So, the fact is that I was used to have Stall warnings at about 120m.p.h., and to fall in stall at about 90-100 m.p.h., now, when I try to turn at 200m.p.h., I get that funny noise alerting me of a stall, and at 160m.p.h. it stalls...., When chasing a con, even with E advantage, I use to turn a little, but now it's nearly impossible. I was going to ask what changes had been done ot it.... but I have read the announcements forum, finding that it has "roll rate" or something like that changed, it says "rol rate increased" . Can anybody explain what does that means ? (as I understand it, it should turn better, but I know nothing about this kinda things....)
Guess why the Americans didn't use it extensively, the plane is a BnZ er, it's characteristics show off like that... sounds normal to me... but someone has been messing with 109 20mm's as far as I can tell... greetz, Zembla
roll speed is the speed for banking the plane to a side. its different from turn. example: this plane is rolling, not turning
P39 is okay by me! Soviets used the P39 for what is was suited to. Low altitude work. Keep that puppy fast and below 3Km alt (does the Q model have a turbo-supercharger????) Last night I got two in a Q!. When I took off looking for a third, I got bounced by a swooping 109.... Oh well.... Still, it is a nice plane. And too, with the engine right over the center of gravity, the P39 can skid and wiggle like a snake... I shoot the cannons first and loose a few hundred Kilos of wieght up front and it is even WONKIER!!! Yep, nice bird the P39!
CC, I love it, but it's flight has changed (or so I think...) and just wanted to know if it has changed, and how (that roll rate increased thing) . Now I like more the P39D, it turns better... (or is it just my imagination?)
Re: Re: P39 is okay by me! Hmm that would make 1000x7.9mm weight 454000g which is 454kg. huh. or 500x20mm 225kg.0. Btw..i wouldn't keep p39q under 3km..better to fly over 5km to keep altitude reserve. From 5km is no problem to get under 3km. But at 1km getting to 3km can be problem.
but may be i'm wrong. took additional info 7-8mm ca39g 12-13mm ca60g 20-23mm ca35g-110g 37mm ca90g dunno... looks to be shell weight, not ammo's.
