Ok, you football fans now we have our thread :D

For those who doesnt know, the World Cup is a cup that it's played by countries around the globe! Only 32 teams qualify, for this tournament and theres only 1 winner.

I started a poll, i tried to choose the best teams according to the international polls and some countries from the pilots flying in WB FH :D

Let's discuss the opening ceremony and the different matches, whatever you want as long as it is related to this amazing game.

For all, Fair play and good luck!

PS: The poll only accept 10 options, i wanted to add Italy and Mexico... i hate to leave this 2 great teams out

Most of Japanese ladies are supporting Italian team now.
I worry that Italians will steal many Japanese Girl.

Thank you Spaceb!! Yes I'm Japanese.
You are a good Japanese speaker.

    >konnichiwa! -> Hello!!
<reply> kon-ni-chi-wa !! you can hear the word in the movie "TAXI 2".

    >ogenkidesuka? -> How are you?
    <reply> genki-desu !!( Fine thank you.)

Japan team will have game with Russia,Belgium,Tunisia.
Our team could entry from 1998, and now 2nd try to pass qualify.
If Japan team will pass the qualify, I will be comfortable with the result. Because Japan and Korea coudn't win the game at World-Cup.

    BTW
How about that "can Japan-team pass the qualify?"
Pls give me your opinion, guys. :@prayer:

Spaceb it looks like you're not that aware about international standings. Have a look at them, then correct your poll please.

The only possible winner is the Spanish selection. We have won the Champions League three times in last 5 years (VIVA REAL MADRID!!!!! :@prayer: :@prayer: ), and nowadays, Spanish league is considered the strongest and hardest league in Europe (in football, European leagues are the most important leagues in the world).

So, don't discuss about possible winners. Spaceb, you could have reduced the choices to one: SPAIN!!!!! :D

We all know that AGAIN Brasil will win this one, although I don't believe it too much myself... :)

Spain is the most "scary" team.. all World cups they say that will win, they scare everybody, but usually don't go to quarters. :D
    LOL J/K amigos!! :)

BTW: Just finished watching France x Senegal... Spaceb, better you swap France for Senegal up here.. :)

First of all... LOL France 1x0 :D I enjoyed the match, specially the first 45 minutes, it was very exciting

About the opening ceremony, i still think that WC Italy 90 is the best in the history so far.

@yellow, Japan has a great chance to qualify for the second round, as being local you have a big advantage.
Watch Russia, they won 3 to 0 in the last training match.

@Prometeo, I'm aware... poll only accept 10 options, and i didnt want to leave teams out.
I tried to be fair, it's really hard to be... I would like to add other powerful nations like Cameroon, Nigeria, Sweden, etc. they all have chances.
Pls understand my situation and give me a break.
If your team is not shown in the poll, just write your message here cheering for it or saying whatever you want. Thanks in advance.

    Official polls:

    3-1 France

    9-2 Argentina

    5-1 Italy

    11-2 Brazil

    13-2 Spain

    11-1 England

    14-1 Portugal

    16-1 Germany

    25-1 Cameroon

    66-1 Nigeria, Russia

80-1 Sweden, Croatia, Japan, Paraguay, Poland, Turkey

    100-1 Irleland, Uruguay

    125-1 Denmark, Belgium

150-1 Senegal, M?xico, Ecuador, South Korea

    250-1 Slovenia

    300-1 USA

    400-1 Costa Rica, South Africa

    500-1 Tunisia

    750-1 China y Saudi Arabia.

@stec i think it has, you have Tomasz Hajto :D

@broz, that doesnt mean anything... the spanish league is made by players from all over the world, not only spaniards.
I bet your championship (and the Calcio) wont be the same without the foreing players, in fact it would be really boring
    :D
You have a cool team, and you will qualify easily.

    Thats all for now :kruto:

    Fair play

    @spaceb

mhhhhh, well, you're right; our league is really full of foreign players, and it decreases the quality of our national team. Maybe that's the reason why we never get further than final quarters.

But, as Rafael said, we scare :dark: everybody (maybe we're all too ugly :dura: )

Good luck for all countries, as well in football fields, as in air :p

Great topic. Very OT, but hey! better than in every thread.

I meself like the Africans... man, can they jump! I love watching their games. A few years ago my fav was Sweden; great team back then.

I've been falling behind on who's strong now because it's impossible to watch some good soccer in this country, but based on other years:

Italy - always a very strong team... remember '94? Roberto Baggio's penalty kick...
Also from 94 Brazil was my favorite team (always) and 98 they were strong too [with Luiz Ronaldo Nazario de Lima] but i don't think they'll do as well as other cups on this one. Still, they will bring a good team.
England and Argentina - Always a big threat but usually don't make it to finals.
Spain will probably make it to the next round, but stay there.
Mexico will not likely pass (they have a TERRIBLE team this year)
I think the strongest team this year will be France just because they won last year. They'll try to defend the cup at all costs.
Some Soviet countries will probably make it to quarters, but won't pass
Japan will have a strong team due to being locals (and Nakata!)
Bulgaria had a strong team 98... did they make it to this one?
USA won't be a big threat.. maybe make it to the next round.

My opinion -- being realistic and not trying to offend anyone

I hope it will be like the old days... watching a good soccer game with cafu, roberto carlos, romario, etc in one team... :D Man, Roberto Carlos surely has a nice shot... Anyone remember his 'twisting' shot? Effect to one side, then to the other. Crazy.

    Well, see you guys around.

    Luis :kruto:

"England and Argentina - Always a big threat but usually don't make it to finals."

lol man, Argentina won the 1978 and 1986 World Cup, and we reached the finals in Italy 90, we lost the cup there against Germany.

@yellow, do you know the song shima uta?

Deigo no hana ga saki kaze wo yobi arashi ga kita

Deigo ga sakimidare kaze wo yobi arashi ga kita

Uuji no shita de chiyo ni sayonara...

Sure Maradona is a great player, one of the best ever for sure. But don't come saying to me that he's better than Pele! :deal:
