?

How many ID's should one have? State your reason once you've selected an option.

Poll closed Aug 23, 2002.
  1. One ID: That's it, no more. (not a good choice? Limits ID overusage?)

    7 vote(s)
    29.2%
  2. Two IDs: Preserve ID layout (...Example: -alw--/--alw-) (Maybe automatically reverses ID without sep

    5 vote(s)
    20.8%
  3. Three IDs: (Preserve 2 IDs and one for other country?) (not sure it makes sense to have this option)

    5 vote(s)
    20.8%
  4. Four IDs: (Two IDs preserved for each country?) (too much I think)

    4 vote(s)
    16.7%
  5. Any amount

I chose 4 ID's. My reasons and applications:
Having two ID's would be a help to those who want to retain their identity and it's only obvious so as to not confuse others.
I do think that if we choose an ID would it make sense to have the ID automatically reverse creating the second ID? example -alw--/--alw-.

Hmm the first phrase here contradicts myself. I think two should be the max...but that's my opinion.

An example of a really simple signup page would be like this one here: http://aim.aol.com/aimnew/newreg/register2.adp?promo=208886

    -alw--,

Your poll is biased right from the start! You forgot the option for LEAVE IT AS IS!

    Which is my vote!

    See you in the air.

I would vote for 2, but not to preserve bias, but one for each side.

what about alw--- and ---alw ?

I don't think there should be a limit but I think it would be interesting to be at the least aware of who carries such IDs. What I mean is maybe a key on FH software that identifies that specific user as being himself and all his aliases. Something like that.

I don't get it. You say I'm biased from the start...explain?
If there was an option to "leave as is" there would be no point to this poll. This poll is in regards to those who would like an inteligent organizing of some things.

Give me a solution then. I like the setup used by AOLIM on their site. It's not that hard. Much easier than what the developers are producing now, and have produced.

:dunno: I think there is someone that is familiar with arranging this but I don't know for sure how that could be done.

We essentially need I think, a method which will identify each user. But only as an ID. Many using WBFH abuse the ability to identify other users and attack them so it's nothing new, just possibly a new challenge if considered at all by the developing team. <S> (salute) to the FH team!

    ALW???

Come on ALW you asked for peoples opinions. a poll is only as good as the questions it asks.

By providing answers that are only of the "CHANGE IT" nature you ignore those of us who do NOT want it changed. A proper poll would ask not only what of the possible changes do people want but allow for those of us who do not want to change at all. By elminating that alternative you have forced a poll that you can say, "SEE they mostly want this restriction so you admins should do this." When in fact we want no such thing!

    See you in the air.

I can see this is going nowhere so I'm going to just end it, even though the topic clearly states..."How many ID's should one have?" not if there should be changes or not.

    Thank you Nicae

    Thanks Nicae,

That was exactly what I was trying to point out. That your additional choice was missing.

    See you in the air.

I'd like at least two... one for the GOOD side... and one for the EVIL side. (It's all I need... or really... I only NEED one) But I dont really care... plus how could they enforce it?
