In earlier WBs it was possible for pilot to get wounded. Today we get instant PK. It worked on random basis sometimes you were hit fatally and died at once (pk) and sometimes you got wounded for a random time (IIRC) before death. Lets bring this nice feature back to FH. It will need all ditches while damaged scored as kills to work properly. (latter is imho good rule too)

"You're leaking blood" Random 5-20min to death. Over 3g would make you lose vision. "You're bleeding to death!!" Random 1-5min to death. With this neat graphical wound effect we had in WB. Over 3g would kill you. "Your left testicle has a .05 meter hole in it!." Almost non-stop graphical wound effect. Death in 1-5min. "You got bullet in the head" Tower
Hehe....imagine your wingman calling in midst of fierce fight. wingmn: oh shit my balls got hit! leader: copy wingmn: fucking hell...0.5m hole...i rtb leader:roger, i cover. wingman: crap... i cant see a shit! leader: roger, go straight you are heading home.
and then... ...in addition to illo's great example of a testicle-hit: wingmn: "it is still dark, but i can see all the girls i ever loved before..." (of course it should be discussed to use "...boys" in some cases -> setup-feature) leader: "come on, you will make it!" wingmn: "i had a good life..." (while/because he can watch a track in case of dying. i will try to make some 3d-modelling of bodies for that track) hah, illo, thx for inspiration!
that really happened in GC3 Normandie-Niemen, illo. squad was transferring with mechanics aboard. i don't know, some void behind the pilot in yak, probably yak-7, probably not. one pilot was wounded and blinded. everyone, including mechanics that could not leave the airplane, commanded him to bail out. but that guy demanded landing commands to save mechanic's live. he failed, but he did not left his mate.
its sarcasm ... but hey make not so much fun of it ... In Red Baron wounded pilot is handeld like this ...u heard a uhh and if you just light wounded screen becomes slowly red ... ( just like u pull few negative g) went back to normal ,then slowly red again ... u could still see thru this red ... but the fact that you loose blood makes this faster and the red darker , at the end u cant see thru the red phase ... and the moment when u can see anything is very short , just before you die not more than a second ... and then u saw the plane from outview and it flew uncontrolled to ground very soon , that u not explode and the plane fly not controlled by anyone looks very real for all those who are around bzw .. very bad wounds , starts with faster Red/normal phases and you cant nearly look thru the red also .. i found that was always ok for RB , imo that should be made with eng fire also instead of explode , or both randomly , In RL burning engines means somethimes fire and smoke in the Cockpit , so the pilot had to jump or died before the plane would explode.. Hope u cant image what i mean with this red/normal screen it would look like u flew waves at 1g , -2g ,1g ,-2g , 1g , -3g ,1g ,-3g ,1g,-4g .... u loose blood so the negative g moments would stay longer for a shorter "normal G" time ...when u fly low u would propably crash ur plane in a moment when u dont see much before u died in cockpit , that would automaticly mean that u reduced in control of ur plane .. sorry for my bad english dont whant to make you >
Hi, I'm all for the idea of wounds!!! And, YES, every ditch should be counted as kill. But, one thing: can developers restore that rule that gives you certain odds to be rescued even when ditched on enemy territory? Depending on how close/far you ditch from enemy field. I think it was like that on iEN.
the simplest way ((IMHO)) to make pilot injury, would be make it like fuel fires, maybe random times that you can live, it would be the best aproach, and relatively simple to make
Hi Illo, Are you sure? It NEVER happened to me, even when im close to my field but there is a CV gruop, I'm ALWAYS captured if beyond the 1/2 way line.
you are wounded. ditched. what happens? you only get your butt saved if near a field or city? or cows and fish know medicine?
Only as long as you survive wounds only from 7mm, and that only rarely. Even 7mm would be pretty lethal unless it passed through lots of armor to get there. Fighter weapons are made to destroy material, they're more than enough to kill a human outright.
