Ok,know my Grandpa fly a FW190 and Me262 in WW2 he have 76 Kills and the Ritterkreuz!(Georg Adam) My Granpa say to FW 190 ,MG start shots from 50m(only MG !) need a Salve and the Con go down.Cannon 20mm start shots from 100m need 5-7 Hits and he is down.Dont shot Cannon from 50m becouse you dont need that,MG get him.(Sparen)FW190D-9 have little bit 30mm too. The 20mm Cannon have 50% Stahlmandel and 50% Explosivgeschoss. For a B-17 you need 20 Hits from 20mm in 50m and he go down. Me262, you need for B-17 and Fighters around 10-15Hits from 30mm and then forgot him Me262 have 24 Rockets! I hope this Help for make the Gunnery perfekt,i remember the first Time here(2.75) the Gunnery have god Power, but now all LW-Pilots go crazy OSSI

OSSI, can you please ask your grandpa to describe his usual attack. How much damage a fighter can sustain in the fuselage, in the wing, in the eng. Was it really necessary to target particular part of a fighter, or a snap shot of 5-7 20mm was enough to achieve a kill? What regions your grandpa was fighting in? Can you ask him to fly with us for a moment?
Thx ossi from great post btw. did he say 15x30mm to fighter?? most say 1 ...typo? yes some fighter pilots used only mgs ive read of it. there were some aces who didnt load cannon ammo to save weight...i dont know if they removed cannons. But said it was enough effect in long burst at very near distances.
Ossi can you ask your Granpa about effects of hits. 1st. What kind of damage he saw when he shot with MG? 2nd. What kind of damage with 20mm? I mean was it usual to loose aerlon or wing for example? Or was it usual that parts of ac were blown off? Ps. And how much hits from 0.50cal or hispano FW did usually stand?(if your granpa was in west) i apologize that i expect your granpa was shot down at least once thank you ossi and aike keep on good work at gunnery...you have now good place to get really historical info.
yes , i am quite curious to the effects of .50's, 303's and hispanos. would like ossi to ask his grandpa that. very interesting couldn't help it, i had to bring it back from the past.
