Any Russians know if there is anying going on in Moscow to celebrate the 70th aniversary (June 18 - 20) of Chkalov et alii's epic first ever over the pole nonstop flight between Europe & North America? see that plane fathest to the right? it is a shark mouthed Cessna 150. if you value your life, do not celebrate with a ride in it. highest time of all DC-3s is at the museum, piloted by Eddie Rickenbacker and a lot of other dudes http://us.airliners.net/photos/photos/5/8/5/0649585.jpg
yeah, but they were probably carrying about 2500kg of fuel with an engine about half the power of that in an i-16. i'd say it looks more like a glider, but it is a very short coupled plane too. i hope they had some sort of rudder trim. if not i bet they had tough enough legs to walk back without resting.
