    Welcome to USA!
Keep an open mind and you may find that many of the ...stereotypes that abound here about us Ami's are unfounded. Interesting points off the top of my head...
In Texas you may find a prevailing attitude that Texas is more of an...'independant'...err, a 'rogue' state if you will ;). They will proudly proclaim themselves the 'lone-star' state. Texas has a rather unique history. Ask around in the local taverns, bars, brothels? :) etc. They will be more than happy to tell you thier story.
Take note to the number of gun-rack mounted pick-up trucks! Actually Texans are as noted for thier hospitality as they are for thier rowdy machismo. Put your ego aside and ignore the macho types. 'Reasoning' your way out of a confrontation with a drunken Texan...aint likely pardner ;). The women tend to be friendly large breasted lovelies with blonde hair(natural or otherwise).
    Take in a Rodeo-YeeeHawwwwwww!!

"Stick to the road lads-Stay clear to the moors!" Ohhh WAIT!!
That was another story ;) Trivia for 10 points... Name that movie quote!

Enjoy your stay! This American welcomes you

Hmmm I wonder if Texans know about detente?!! :mafia:

It's alright. I been there. I once went for a swin in a lake and was really enjoying myself, and then some guy on shore shouts to me:
'Why are you swimming in the fishpond???'

guys, stay on topic please! :)

thanx by-tor! texas was mexican up to some time wasnt it? And there was some war about it. Anyway, I know how to please nationalists, since I am one. ;)

I see if I have the guts to try those roadside bars in the desert they show in movies. (ok maybe that was Arizona or Alabama or somewhere else?) How goes hitch-hiking there? Were there those guys who would kidnap hitch-hiking virgins and sacrifice and eat them?

Is it the NASA center in Houston? I remember in sci-fi films they all write "23:00 06/09/20xx, Houston, Texas"

Well, it is Texas, go see the Alamo and all that jazz, but when you get tired of the steers and queers, I suggest you get a trip the Las Angelas or Reno or something.....

New Orleans is about 6 hours east by automobile. 350 miles or so, not sure what that is in kilometers.

Houston is a rather large city and you should have no problem finding something to do there. Buy a cowboy hat while you're there.

American Shipka :) At least as a symbol of combat glory and heroism.

NASA mission control center is indeed in Houston, there must be some kind of excursions there. Americans are eager to show their achievements in space exploration...

    That means 23:00 June 9th, 20XX?
    or is it 23:00 Sept 6th, 20XX?

    this is even worse:
    Yankdate
    04/03/04

Oh, and beware the Yank Gallon. It is anachronistic and ain't even a gallon, it is something else. Did you know yanks have FIVE quarts in a gallon?
[or was that just a whiskey merchant's scam so he could sell five bottle instead of four??]
Don't try and repair anything there unless you have stainless steel knuckles, those backward texicans still are using flat-head screws for EVERYTHING.

No matter WHAT you have heard, Lone Star Beer is horrible.
The Mexican Food is actually better than it is in Mexico [texicans don't eat bugs, either]

Boroda, your own country exhibits American space achievements:

NASA is all about international cooperation in its operations. The Space Administration made great strides in diplomacy even in the middle of the Cold War.

But anyway, have a good time grobar!

Hehe, I have never been to Baikonur (Turatam), but my Father flew there at least 2-3 times a month in mid-80s. OTOH I have seen Kennedy Space Center, was quite surprised at how Americans advertise their space programm. I was absolutely stunned by a Saturn-V launch vehicle. The second stage engine is something unbelievable.

About Energiya/Buran - please go read something about this project at www.buran.ru where your picture is from ;) It's absolutely different from Space Shuttle. A much more flexible and scaleable system. Unfortunately it will never fly again :( I think I have told this story here several times, or was it at AGW or HTC board?

BTW, if Buran is a copy of Shuttle then F-15 is a copy of MiG-25 :D
