Well i started flying this addicting sim with version 2.74. I practiced offline , then started flying h2h (head to head) 1vs1. got my butt kicked quite alot, but was fun :) and learned alot. i think originally, gawong or mazillo. asked my to join FH i did, when it first started out version 2.76. again got my butt kicked alot, so i flew for gold. as blured. i did all kinds of newbie mistakes in multi player. (totally different bird then 1vs1) one mistake i remember was trying to help capture a field (listen closely now, this is funny) golds had closed the field already, but i had noticed a structure still up, so i dropped my bomb on it. as soon a it hit and destroyed the target. i had all golds bitching at me left and right. anyone guess what i did?? lol i killed the tower lol. not intentional, i just thought it needed to be destroyed. and boy they let me know i was wrong :) . anyway i didn't fly for quite sometime after that here at FH. but another h2h pilot had asked me to join an all red squad. the vmf-117. i didn't get much time to fly with them, but the few sorties that i did fly were fun with them. but a spy was in our squad! perrin, i think his nick was. and he passed on the information of our up and coming mission (yep you heard right, a red squad doing a legitimate mission. bombers and fighters with escort ) he gave all the information to a gold squad as the mission was taking place. needless to say. we walked right into a trap:( so coupled with the spy and are website being yanked. we disbanded. some remained vmf-117 (still some great guys thier with a great sense of humor --sg-- ;)) and gizz, by-tor, cobraj formed "elite" i joined also. it was a little more relaxed of a squad. no orders, just fly and kill cons :) and we kicked butt since version 2.76 and counting :) in that time i have seen alot of my old h2h friends and foes enter warbirdsFH. right tipiss :) and -red-- :)brajoo. any how thomba, my wife hates me having this hobby also, but my kids get a real kick out of seeing me send golds down :) nice post igosky. wtg

Well, my history is partially viewable at my site but here it comes in short: I started flying WB some 3 years ago offline, I didn't know at that time there was an online service, and back then there probably was none either... so there I started, practicing offline, with the main criterium for a good plane to be it's roll rate I soon got accustomised with the FW190 that in easy mode lacked the tricky stalls the 190 lives with right now in the arena... so as you can clearly read, I TnB'd with 190's, absolutely no idea on how to fight, or how to turn, since I was a jet fighter, I jst thought, hell this is going slow, and in order to devote full attention to the 253rd VFS where I recently got promoted, I stopped flying it offline, and started devoting full attention to online battles/flights, yes yes, those were the good old days, my first steps in virtual dogfighting... and some remarkable ones too... never really felt like an ace anywhere, still don't do so right now, but that's another story, anyway, 253rd got extinct, and I've got Seahwk to confirm that... so one morning, I woke up, and Seahwk notified me of the existance of FreeHost, first refusing to beleive it, I thought, I'll give it a try because I just got a new stick, and wanna test it on something, so I downloaded the software overnight, and ever since I started I was addicted... flying online for about 1 year now, I have gotten bored at some instances, and felt ashamed quite alot, but the most of all is the fun and the team spirit that are in some squadrons... so if you wanna get rid of me, it will sure take much more than a ToD of bad flying and luck to do so...

    Summarisation
    Code:
    Offline: 3-4 years
    Online: 1 year

I discovered WB2. sumthing in a CD some 3 years ago. It was from a Sims-Magazine, called AWACAS. I installed warbirds and i fell in love whith it.

I jsut flyed offline without knowing all this stuff and tons of info aout WB. Then i met a guy (-road-/troski) who talekd me about FH.

It was looong time ago and in those days i was wa f***g warper lamer.

So in 2001 i bpught a Joystick and i reminded about WB... found the aike s's Free Host site , downloaded all this stuff and joined here.

Then at few moths i was still a lamer till Itaiky (in a drunk session) recruited me for AFVS.

Then i truly discovered WB, not before ;) Before that i was having the 10% of the enjoy i take now :)

In WB almost 3 years now (before WB it was year and something of European Air War on MSN Zone). Begun with Polish FH (Itmo's host WB 2.70) where I must say I learned most. Then flown lots of H2H (including duels on Adamski's ladder), spent some time on German Gamesmania server (WB 2.01) which was cool too :), Then finally moved to this FH about year ago or something.

I stopped counting long time ago what this "hobby" (mania? :) ) costed me till through these 4 years - how much money for internet bills, how many broken relationships, repeated semesters on my university and such things :). I'm not sure if it's all worth it but I'm too damn addicted to ever bother :D

I first found out WB in a cd from a maganize, i don't even remember which one. Installed and started playing offline, after about 1 month I convinced my father to lend me his credit card so I could register for that 1month trial at IEN. I was kicked out a lot, but managed to get my first kill in a huge furbal. It was an spit and I was flying an zero3. Soon after the month was over. Played offline for a little more than it was gone (there wasn't even drones at that time).

Sometime after I downloaded it again (2.74 now) and founded the Ladder, played it for a few months (2-3) and than Mac told me about FH. This was about 2 years ago. Just after I joined grobar (a newbie from the ladder too) was setting up a new squad a called me ("Bake'n'Toast'em, Fry'n'Roast'em" Squad). It lasted for some months but was disbanded. Again Grobar, me and few others from the Bakers founded AFVS, and I found the true fun in FH.

jeez, how I found warbirds Is my step dad bought me USNF, and I loved it, and went to the computer store, and bought a logitech wingman j-stick, and WB 2.01 came with it, along with DoA((2.5 years ago)), I player 2.01 offline like 2 months bombing ships and fields ((I thought bombsite was that little circle thing in B17, little did I know you press 2)) and lost intrest in game after awhile. FOund WB from the internet, and downlaoded it ((was version right before f4f-3, and b24)) and played IP to IP against my buddy for 4 months, then uninstalled, then found FH last april, and been here since

OFFLINE/H2H: when CK beta was released

This online addiction started when i played airwarrior H2H against -ekko- in early 90s. We had plans getting account but then heard of this new sim called Confirmed Kill.

I think i read grendls article about it with nice picture of p-38 among sheep in CK engine. Well anyway i missed open beta and after some time i didn't play CK/WB much at all(1997-99). In that time i was hanging out with my girlfriend/friends...forgetting computers even exist. I did play Flight Unlimited 1 to learn clean ACM for some months.

In late 1999 i was working at my uncles job and browsing AGW daily. I was getting ISDN connection to internet so i was quite excited about online sims. It happened so that glenn gawong contactef me at AH boards for some H2H and gave me ICQ numbers of some WB ladder dudes.(brajo, sika, grobar) We flew some hth and just for fun with grobar. (i remember quite equal fights with 109s against grobar... well brajo beat me all the time)

Grobar informed me of FH and i connected for first time. I saw 20 pilots online!!! wow! Archer, Afrika, Breedr...maybe Buzy, Aike and Rust were there too. It was still with old IEn launcher....wooohooo..that feeling. There was small mediterranean map and i took off from f7 with 190. I found my first victim at over sea between f4-f9...my hands were shaking...d5...d4...i started firing..i didnt know it was way too early...but yes i got him still. He went smoking into the sea. I decided to RTB because i was so nervous getting killed. I think i got over 10streak in first days..hmm must check.

hehe some comments from ICQ early 2000

    kolio:i`m in
    Gawong is also thereite forgot
gonna create the Bake and toast 'em, fry and roast 'em! squad (just can`t wait)!

    Me:
i mostly climb straight up in fights (using my speed advantage efficiently
before my speed drops. i bet that low cons coudnt follow over 1km of
straight climb. btw. i finally got shot down:( after 13 kills. bailed out over sea and was captured) i came too greedy... my mistake. i shot 2 low cons in a row then noticed p51 over me...with bf109k i couldnt escape...better switch back to dora if i want to do any low attacks.

    hehe..those were the days.

Bake&Toast'em fry and Roast'em with grobar, mengo, brajo, farid and yogik.
I will always remember those sorties and farid was one great wingman. He was real teamplayer. I withdrew from Bakers at end of 2000??? to organize my own squad.

Well it never took wind so i joined Regia "just for while" and soon new players like doku and kp from finland joined this group. frecci/Gladio was big daddy and head organizator behind everything, much like grobar in bakers.
We had good squad with fine 190 pilots like moskit and kp so it was time of great fighter sweeps. Doku killed just everything even in val divebombers and switched planes all the time....not fixated like me. :)

I remember when we formed FFC with doku and KP (after leaving regia aeronautica) in 2001. We got unbelievable group there..that feeling of power:) it was insane. zap, raid and madcow came along too and we got even numerically good squad. Oh and wb oldtimer jozo...who still goes on in FFC colors.

Then i went to play AH for some time, it was absolutely brilliant. But due to technical problems with my videocard i came back to play FH 2d. Unluckily FFC had broken meanwhile...doku and kp disappearing mystically. (if you read this believe me IL-2 FM sucks with all combat flaps and suck and continuous rolling.) :D

I went to AFVS for awhile....grobars new squad after great Bakers was abandoned. I remember flying much with nicae. I learned much there...maybe i had been too safe in FFC team:)

But...well again in FFC even if all organization has gone. Im still waiting to all FH finnish pilots to get and fly together one more time.

Most memorable out-squad sorties i've had with alexej, archer and rust.
Also i miss great freie jagd formations of JG26. Badgun and krause were good fellows.

well..that was about my all FH career in nutshell.

PS. afrika what are you doing now? Remember our classic fight p51b vs fw190a4 over atlantic? E-fight, diving barrelroll, scissors, rolling scissors and finally you got me...that was most complete fight i ever had in WB.

download.com said WB was freeware, so i downloaded it in my bored times
i found out it was an online game, and offline was very restricted gameplay. i was revolted and dissapointed. i went hopeless into altavista and typed "warbirds free server" - and guess what!
    end of normal life ;)

since 2.76, i have seen every single FH plane come up, one by one. i saw an active regia aeronautica :p, an unbeatable and unique in efficiency 228 ShAD, and even .gunstat :)

i remember playing in arena with 20 payers average, and was astonished when they told me the usual peaks at 17:00 MSK were around 50 players online at once!! wow!!

i was there, in the middle of the FH legality "discussions" at AGW. i read the thread in which 20 AGW members pounded HS to the ground.

i was in the BoB scenario. almost got the no-icon scenario. got the ju52 scenario - and still have pics! :)

i even remember illo's first lessons in 190.. -quax-'s to be precise - illo didnt want to stain his stats ;)

and i joined AFVS when it was still very new.. had only 5 members at the moment :)
i saw an active -denis, and checked out his medal in scores: 12 kills in a sortie! (!!!!!!!)

    nostalgia :)
im in WB since august 2000, and freehost a bit less than 1 month later.

Hehe, try to read that comment of ekko in the bottom of the screenshot ;) And I thought Latin was a difficult language...

Hehe, well, some details, I think I downloaded WB for the first time when there was no 3D available... later I checked back and 3D was available, but I can be messing things up terribly

I started off with no experience so I had to learn it all by myself, in april I got recruited by odisss, now known as odisseo

I remember taking off from a field under attack by a huge blip of gold dots (when ShAD was making a gold ToD and I was flying red, which I did most of the times back then) taking off from that field, seeing one of the nicknames of the killers, and the well known name: "228 ShAD". I remember the annihilation... "ShAD attack on Fxx" became a familiar sight in channel 103/101 My kamikaze institution gave me the spirit and will to learn... and so I did, and here I am, and I don't regreth all the time I've put into FH, because it paid me back in double!

And I remember denis score... as fulmen in AFVS it was very impressive to me, what became of him anyway? Last thing I heard is he got married...

Another milestone I've witnessed was the very active days of jagd (who made quite an impression on newbie zembla) and the establishment of "elite"

The added screenshot is a screenshot of the scoreboard of FH on the 2nd april, well my scores anyway, so it's not the scoreboard, but... you know what I mean... those were the things I had to send to my commanders in the 253rd which I considered active and I thought of myself as loyal to it, so I didn't join anything else and still send my kills (untill I realised it had become extinct)... Quite embarassing now I see these scores :D Reminds me of the current ToD :(

    pyorii=rolling
    pirulainen=perkele=devil=damn

    damn it's rolling.

pyorii perkele! or pyorii saatana! would mean just the same....but has more "effect" would be more like it's fucking rolling again!!

So point is that ekko kindly refers to torque effect caused by DB engine in relatively steep climb.

    I hope it helped.
