The problem is, that Russia is not in a vacuum, and US is on a same planet. Russia started not to isolate itselth, but to protect from western way more powerfull capital from taking controll other it. Hodorkovskiy and Berezivskiy deals is exactly about that. Isolation started from a wesr as a measure to suffocate independand from it forces in Russia. ExWarsaw pact countries, on countrary had green light, so huge investments and open markets gave them huge growth. It is exactly dichotomy for Russia. Continuation of developing by IMF rules, means loosing market to a western capital in no time, so total submission to US political will. As Eastern Europe done. If not, You can remember such place as Jugoslavia. And your resent situation also shows how you sre paing and going to pay for US interests. For god sake, You can hate Russia as much as You want, but You acting just irrational for Yourselth. And You seriously belive in this genocide shit? Like second in numbers nation UNSIDE Russia are Ukrainians.
Romania lagged behind the others because of the huge corruption. The capitalists, let alone money, like predictability and stability. And a certain degree of rule of law. Which in Romania didn't exist in the 90's. That was a home made disaster, not a capitalism induced one. The ex communist nomenclature stole our economy, not the Americans. And I think a lot of that happened in Russia too.
Same in Poland. Late 1980s were the era of the former nomenclature and security officers robbing as much of the national wealth, as they could. Fortunately this was soon cut short, with the Solidarity government (the first one, that lasted until 1991, the subsequent ones were less decent). We also had private enterprises already operating here. Some, smaller ones (employing up to 50 people) were able to operate even in the 1950s, there was also the cooperative movement, which was rooted not in the communist collectivization, but - to some extent - in prewar traditions. There were also joint ventures, that were allowed in Poland in 1985 or 1986. Once our economy was set free (by the last communist government, back in 1988 - so over half a year before the People's Republic was handed over to democrats) this already begun to yield significant results (not to mention we've introduced reforms similar to Russian Perestroika back in 1982, and not in 1986 like the USSR did). The "shock therapy" by Finance Minister Leszek Balcerowicz was a real trauma for most of the Polish society, yet it yielded growth after just a year of (shocking) recession - in 1989, when the Polish GDP shrunk over 7.2% (just to compare that with RF - the Russian GDP is expected to shrink 15 to 20% this year) we hit rock bottom... only to recover sharply after that. In 1990 the Polish GDP per capita was... mere 1630 Dollars. Last year it was over 17800 Dollars. Russia in 1990 - over twice the GDP of Poland - 3500 Dollars per capita. Last year 12200. We've managed to achieve a 10-fold growth, while Russia failed to quadruple its GDP.
Ough. Same talks that You can hear here in Russia. Except IT WAS 30+ YEAR AGO. THOSE PEOPLE ARE DEAD. More of that, Capitalism, free market and democratic elections showld`v to remove those people from power and economy shouldn`t they? I thougth it is exact point of those shiny things, Am I wrong? Doesnt they supposed to be selth sustainable? Doesn`t people have enougth power to remove bad guys from power and drive bad ineffective businesse from a market? You have all this shit for 33 years and some old folks stole Your prosperity from You? It not rings a bell?
