Funny you should aim this at the europeans.

Schengen, and in general the whole Euro zone, are opened up by car to each other as well. When transitioning borders within the EU, you'll see there are border checkpoints, but those are closed. With the exception of the damned Swiss, gotta get a "vignet", a sort of "I paid my dues" proof, to pass them.

The borders are virtually open nowadays.

Picked up a grill guard tonight and had a great conversation with a great gear-head. He told me to get a racing throttle body/air passage system. He put on on his truck, configured like mine except his is 2WD and he's presently getting 24MPG with a 5.3LV8 with just an upgrade I need to get more clear info on. I think it's like this 80mm throttle body here 99-02 CHEVY SILVERADO GMC SIERRA 80MM THROTTLE BODY TB6 .

Gotta like these American trucks....6,000 lb, V8 and getting 24mpg :D Been hearing guys are getting 200,000 miles out of these engines. The one in my truck is apparently the same on the bottom end as a Corvette. I'm getting 21MPG on this 4x4 so it'll be great to see what mpg I'll get!

This guy, the one I bought the grill guard from used to work for GM and has connections in the assembly plant and will hook me up with some tips/helps with my truck! He knows quite a few up and up people around here! Some cop drove by, sounded his siren/lights and waved at him. Friend of his! :) Also, he told me about some FBI/CIA friends around the block he knew. He has parties at his place and they show up there at his house!! I'll have to see if he'll invite me next time. :) :mafia:

:) Well, I normally think of the Swiss as the last holders of sanity in Europe :)

Will the last European to leave Europe please remember to turn out the lights...

I referred to Europeans because I'm from there and I have driven there and lived there. It's my point of reference.
You must be aware that the cops still can stop you anytime they want and "ask" for your papers and question you about where and why you are going in most European countries even now.
In the United States the police must have "probable cause" and must explain to you why they are asking you questions. Granted they may make excuses and now with the "Homeland Security" Constitution suspensions they are closer to Nazi/communist/all powers to the state functionality. But at least it was less, years ago.

Cool. Get those factory parts while you can, while there are still GM factories!
I thought the new 'vettes had the all alloy LS7/LS6 350 motors?
You have the vortex head, multipoint injection 350 V8 don't you?

Humm.... I'm not too impressed anymore with FBI/CIA agent-flunkies.
Been There. Done That. and I stay away.

I don't like to party with people who carry guns, legally.

    Lol, no.

If we had similar gas price that you guys, I'd bought one too.
But for now, I'd rather take some 3.0l turbo diesel (audi, or maybe jaguar)

    Better mileage for sure...

    :D

Audi is EXPENSIVE to fix and weak. Jaguar? Junk through and through. It's owned by Ford anyway. :D

jag bought by ford; out of the frying pan and into the fire.

The best turbo diesels(euro passenger cars) are that Mercedes V-6 and the Alfa Romeo.

What one should look-out for is the new generation of turbo diesel from Hyundai.

They have two very good all alloy direct injection motors coming out this year I think.

They will be coupled to a new six speed automatic trans that it actually quite a piece of engineering. Lifetime of 250,000+ miles without oil change. Not even possible to change the oil or add. Completely sealed transmission.

These transmissions were designed and built at a special GM plant that will sell the units to Hyundai, Ford "and other Asian automobile manufacturers".

Pretty soon there will be just one car company.....

yeah, alfa romeo is at the top in one category only, and that's looks
any positive opinions on other aspects is just fan bias
those cars break down if you even look at it the wrong way

we've had an alfa 75 2.4liter TD and that thing had constant problems, electrics being broken almost all the time

this car has a big red light on the dash warning about ANY kind of wrong things
this light was almost always on
the first thing you'd always do after starting the car is to press a button disabling the fuckin' floodlight

I loved driving that car, if it was running, that thing was pure joy to be in
Then again, I am a fan... :shuffle:

I would have NEVER owned an Alfa 75 diesel.
The only Alfa 75 to have is the 3.0 V-6.
You would have been better off getting the 164 second generation TD.

I am speaking about the Alfa Romeo JTD turbo diesels.
the 156, 159, even the 146/147 with the 1.9 diesels were great.

Yes, I am a fan too, but I refused the 75 diesel.

Actually I like the older front engine and transmission/rear wheel drive Alfas the best.....;)

WTF! "Milano" ? That was only for the US market and they had only the 2.5 or the 3.0 V6 gas and NEVER the diesel!
You really MUST be a fan!!!!:D
