Cockpit visibility is good, however, a high AoA (angle of attack) will result in many misses. A favorite strategy of many Bf109 pilots is the___negative-g roll___, which leaves Spitfires and Hurricanes shooting at air. The 109 is vulnerable to deflection attacks-the amour is located a 50 inches behind the pilots seat-and fire from below, due to the location of the coolant reservoirs. When overmatched, the crafts speed and durability allow for hasty exit. Another limitation of this plane, which was found during the BoB (Battle of Britain) is the low endurance. This was later corrected by the addition of larger fuel tanks, addition of drop tanks, as well as engine refinements which increased its fuel consumption ratio.
