    It is Suse 9.1
    I have MSFF 'Pro.'
YaST says it sees the sound card. YaST says it sees the joystick. When I click on the stupid thing to 'test' the joystick, it says 'Joystick not connected,' or something.
I need a driver or module or 'package' or something. I don't know what to do.
It would be nice if I could find an RPM that has support for a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro GAME PORT joystick....
Nevermind links that point me to 'things I can compile....'
I ain't into 'compilin' anything, yet.

If I knew for certain it is hopeless, I would just go and buy YAJS [Yet Another Joystick]. But I don't know. I don't want to spend money on YAJS only to find IT won't work either....
Is there a command to load a joystick module that I need to know about?
Please do not answer in Polish or Russian. I don't speak those, nor read them.

modprobe - is a command , that load modules from command string ..
You need read texts in /usr/share/doc/kernel-doc-std-2.4.26/input/ directory as I have in my system.

You need to insert the modules into the following order:
    % modprobe joydev
    % modprobe ns558
    % modprobe iforce
    % modprobe evdev

Thank you for your help, Silverfox.
I went to a store and bought a Saitek Cyborg evo.
I have it running just fine. No problems. Without force feedback working, there isn't much use for a ff joystick, and from what I learned reading about the state of linux drivers for the FF game port stick, I couldn't anticipate getting FF to work. SO I got a regular twist handle stick.
I cannot run warbirds in Linux, yet. But I will soon have Illo and his friends killing me in Target Rabual.
    LOL

Cyborg evo has spontaniously fucked up now.
I can calibrate it from YaST. However, the game, which says I have a cyborg stick, does not show any axes or buttons. It doesn't calibrate nor the other things. Damn, I thought things were fine...
