WTG - it was big fun! However i dont know if Yamamoto survived (i collided with A6M) - anyway, after long time it was a nice event with lot of pilots in formation.

What a difference against MA! It turned out again - most of pilots doesnt have basic experience with coordinated formation flights and communication. In MA they fly mostly individualy or in pairs, so keep formation and orientate in combat when in big group - its something absolutely new for them :)

Doesnt matter there were some confusions on the beginnig (its usual in scenarios) - it was great experience for lot of pilots and for me again a fun!

Big thx for vibora and TH team to organizing this event and believe we will meet all again on next event.

Agree! Lots of fun for those people attended event!
Thanks to all pilots for comming!
Great opportunity to fly with and against people that a rarely see at FH, besides few of them that I can keep a closest contact, was so good to fly in formation with guys like antred, barman, mixer, hotsea, dane, afgan and so on!!!
I appologise to those ppl that tryed to make contact w/ me at pvt, but I was kind busy being superadmin of event, rbull's adjunt, and a p38 pilot trying to keep formation...
Anyway I must admit some errors in organization... I must to block any take off after betties take off, in order to equalize chances... becouse yesterday gold pilots could land and take off as fresh pilots against low fuel, low ammo same tired p38 pilots... (sorry I just saw it during combat). Learned. Never forget again.
I would like to hear some comments from gold side. that seems for us reds, that they have a nice tactical... becouse they hide betty most of time.
Particulary about betty, when I found it. at F21 I noted that Betty respawn at F21 wich was not what I imagined for event. OK, it wasnt stated clearly (Learned. Never forget again.) but the fact betty pilot can .exit / .fly , represents a brand new plane, without any battle damage... It COULD (im sure not at that event) represent vital advantage to betty pilot... Alemao once again playing in the breaches of the rules... :)
Again Tx to all that attended event!
    See you at Target Rabaul!

I will have to disagree with the point about the fresh A6Ms - It was frustrating to have to climb to 6+ kilometres only to see that we had no fuel to even get to the fight. A restart was much needed. Also, wtg to the Betty, but imho the way it stayed level when the last P-38 (with one engine only!) attacked and killed it was wrong. Some evasives would have helped the escort to kill the P-38 and protect the bomber at the same time.

From my part it was a real fun scenario, certainly warmed me up before the ambitious Target Rabaul one.

In the first fight we dropped on P-38s from very high up. I became really worried about losing parts, but spiral dive with idling engine did the trick. Reuben was not so lucky, but managed to keep it flying even with his vstab missing. When we arrived on the deck, I managed to close in on a P-38 already being attacked by -gelo-. I put around 13x20mm in it but I couldn't see any damage. Moreover, -gelo- was maneuvering extremely wildly and didn't seem like he noticed me, so I disengaged to avoid a mid-air collision. Turning away, I caught a glimpse of a P-38 diving on him but I couldn't get the mouse pointer up for a 6-call and -gelo- was shot down. A few moments later I got the kill on the previous P-38. I managed to get a second one in my gunsight but he was level and pulling away quickly so I only shot a single shell in his left wingtip, from my right gun - my convergence was rather short for that shot (200yrds conv, con at d4-5). Eventually got an assist for this.

The second fight found me lower than most of the other cons and allies so I spent my time avoiding P-38s and trying to get some altitude. Somehow our samurai skills killed off most of the attackers. Burat in particular flew very nicely and this time I managed to get some 6-calls on the way.

The third fight in F20 was again too high for me so I didn't feature here either.

Finally, escorting the Betty from F21, I saw our planes kill a P-38 which was dangerously close to it. Victory was near! Two P-38s left, waiting near the last field. Fast-forwarding to the point where the Betty is ready to land, a P-38 with a single working engine manages to blow the G4M's tail off, despite being followed by 3-4 Zekes. The last P-38 was struggling low against superior numbers but unfortunately I didn't manage to get a shot at it as I watched it bank, hit one wing in the sea and crash!

And that's about it from me, great work!

    :)

The total mark: I like this scenario!

Reds have 2 groups. Red CO was ?rbull. Main group was leaded by ?rbull and the 2nd group was assigned to lead by ?mixer.
We had some problems from beginning. Fields was opened too early and some players start rolling without permission. After everyone had landed, 2nd group was assigned to up from another small field.

But after 2nd group had upped there we see that fuel was limited to 40% so we have to land and roll from main field.
Seems golds had same problems, but this fact don?t ruin our fun.

Ok, anyway all p38 make two big groups and we start our long flight over sea. ?rbull had asked everyone turn on the vector, but nobody see where we were bounded to

In spite of the fact that few players got disconnect the 40min flight over water, it was funny anyway.

Vibora?s idea to turn ?alt-v? enable on flight was great. We can observe each other. Many P38 flying with white traces after planes. We was afraid to collide with each other so have to keep close formation but have to keep eye on distance. Anyway nobody was killed in collision in spite the fact friendly collision was on.

So keep running at 4km alt on throttle 60..70% to save fuel . We start joking, we had assigned channels tried to capture enemy radio without success. I still don?t know, were we able to hear enemy radio or not :)

At least we see the ground on the map. Nervous begin to tickle, we wish set 100% power and search for the enemy, but we have to keep throttle 60..70% to save fuel.

Ok.. now we are almost near the enemy ground. Enemy airfield is near, everyone is searching for low dots, but there are no dots. The cloud of 16x P38 are flying over the enemy island and.. Japans keep silence. That?s looks a bit strange?

-rbull had ordered Group #2 to check two enemy airfields. And Group #1 was flying to the destination place of admiral arrival Buin (f20).

We (Group #2) consisting of five P38 had passed over first enemy airfield at Torokina (f19)? it was clear. We had descend to 3km alt to check for dots.. but.. no action.. airfield looks desert. We had moved to the second airfield. In 4 minutes we were over second enemy airfield at Tenekan (f21). Same story. The airfield was clear. It looks like enemy start playing with us. We start nervous. Sky was clear over the fields. Enemy should be near.. Group #1 had no find any con as well. May be that G4M's are already landed and admiral was survived?..

Group #2 had turned to Buin (f20) again. We fly over Buin, it was clear? but suddenly one of the squad mates said: "I see dot". Everyone looks on 9 and see 2 small dots far SE from field.
My pulse run up and I had ordered: ?ENGAGE!?. I had ordered to -rbull we had two cons and -rbull had confirmed the attack.
5 xP38 start attack two unlucky Zeros South from Buin. We had expected kill them both less than in 2 minutes.. but.. they were good. They dragged us low. We were trying B&Z them, but they evade our attack easy. We were dogfighting them low, at 1km alt.. Hotsea had made an try to get one... and? he crashed into the ground.
Damn! We loose one boy! Let?s kill them!

Suddenly about 6 more Zeros appears at 3..4km alt. 4x P38 were low and everyone got con on our 6. Our mate ?spaz missed attack and was shot down by Zero. Holy sh%t! We are in the trap!
I had ordered ?DISENGAGE, RUN S?. P38 is more faster, we can survive.. but they had good altitude. I got 4 Zeros my 6 and one Zero my 12 who was running after afgan in P38 at 30m altitude over sea. I was trying to reach him? but? Zero got him and easy leave from my attack. Cons were far.. I left alone. Group #1 was otw for help.. but it was late. Almost all my squadmates was killed, I had got only one Zeke. I had promised myself to find and kill that admiral in the name of my friends.

I had reached SW area of Buin (F20). I had checked my 6. It was clear. I hear the voices of other P38. They were fighting over Buin. I was sure, that they will not miss G4M. I had turned engine to throttle 90% and start climb to safe altitude to help fight over Buin.

I had arrived Buin in few minutes from S. The sky was full of Zeros. They were flying different altitude and P38?s were trying to B&Z them. Fuel is low. These fights keep too long. We need to find G4M or... Suddenly we got no leader. -rbull had collided with A6M. Every pilot of both sides looks on searching for chute... But no chutes appears. Nobody knows is it better to survive to being captured by Japanese. Everyone knows about his tortures.

We are playing with death. Almost 50% of our team is dead now. No mercy for ?rbull. I had dived and got one Zero. Pilot had bailed.

I had tried to attack Zeros, but they evade my attack easy. I decide to climb more... Suddenly vibora said: "I see G4M at Tenekan? (f21). I had waited for confirmation about kill of G4M (and, possibly admiral). But? last words from Vibora was he is going to bail?

I had asked for help and moved Tenekan from South. Everyone was busy but antred. He was otw to help me. I had reached the Tenekan.. and.. again.. it was clear for me. I had seen only fire in the ground. It was our P38. I feel that admiral should be near.. The incoming Zeros were the confirmation of that. They were coming to me from Buin. Suddenly I had seen one dot SE from Tenekan. It was looks like fuel leak.. it was Zero, but I had to check it. Right! I found G4M under Zero! Zero was just his cover who to give G4M with admiraly completely! It?s my chance!

I had dived to G4M, but G4M was good. He evade from my attack and I got few hits. Right engine sneezes.. but continue working? One more attack.. G4M start run to Buin. I had cried on radio, antred comes to help me.. and.. was killed by G4M gunner. Radio is not more working.. I don't know where are all other guys.. are they alive.. or not.. Five or even more Zeros are at my 6, I see their traces over and under my plane. One of the engine is leaking. Fuel is very low. There are no way home. I am almost dead. G4M starts dive to airfield. He should not land! I see the marks, meaning this G4M is carrying out some VIP person. One my engine stopped. I had only half 12mm guns left, some of them were damaged. Canon was empty. I had dived under him to get better position... All what I think about was "throttle of 1 engine should be enough to got him! do not turn, run, run, bastard! do not think about Zeros, yankee! do not think about Zeros". Distance became closer and I had pressed on trigger. I see the parts of G4M starts fall out. G4M starts to fire...

    Notes:
    - some players were unabe to enter Taba, they have to change/recreate your nickname
    - fuel was limited to 40% on small red airfield, but it shouldn't
    - some players had no correct cockipits (mb allow players to use standart f6f5 cockpit instead on any plane?)
    - ping was good for p38's pilots, big lag - more change to hit enemy :)
    - admin should knows plane numbers written in paper
    - fields should be closed untill everyone get the channel of his group
    - were we able to listen enemy radio or not? sonar had tried to scan but find nothing
    - CO should be choosed beforehand (I know, that nobody wish take this role)

And big thx and WTG vibora, franz, alemao & team for scenario!

i didn't understand the gold briefing, but i was happy that all a6m were allowed to takeoff.
i thought 20 x 20mm was enough to kill mixer at the beginning, but 60 minutes later i saw his death at the radio.
vibora was the only p38 that escaped the furball over f20. he saw the g4m before me at f21. my 150x7mm and 10x20mm were again not enough; but he may had the same trouble to kill the g4m, because he was shooting 5 minutes on it.

hi mix! really nice report I "feel the thrill" reading it! wtg! :)
    about some points:

    [ QUOTE=mixer ]
We had some problems from beginning. Fields was opened too early and some players start rolling without permission. After everyone had landed, 2nd group was assigned to up from another small field.

-+-> I intented to start action exactly 06:00 and I set TH to work in real time, in order to allow gold planes to take off 20 minutes after. I was one of the pilots that took off without orders, but i must confess that im not sure if order was given becouse i so busy w/ event admin tasks that I though " hey mb I miss roll orders" in the matter of fact i just followed other pilots...

But after 2nd group had upped there we see that fuel was limited to 40% so we have to land and roll from main field.
Seems golds had same problems, but this fact don?t ruin our fun.

-+->At NGS terrains, there is an rule: only main fields have 100% fuel... reds was suppose to roll only from F1, I was surprised that was p38s available at F2... my mistake certainly...

Ok, anyway all p38 make two big groups and we start our long flight over sea. ?rbull had asked everyone turn on the vector, but nobody see where we were bounded to

-+-> We relied in our leader and he was right!

-+-> It was really a Rbull idea, I just typed .altv 1

So keep running at 4km alt on throttle 60..70% to save fuel . We start joking, we had assigned channels tried to capture enemy radio without success. I still don?t know, were we able to hear enemy radio or not :)

-+->me also... I believe franz was failed to implement that feature...

At least we see the ground on the map. Nervous begin to tickle, we wish set 100% power and search for the enemy, but we have to keep throttle 60..70% to save fuel.

    :D

    * In a moment that our leader passed away, I choose to desobey oreders and took hdg to F21, becouse I think the tactics used by alemao is drive us run out of gas, sending most of zeros he can to engage us at Buin... so I think F 19 is coverde bay our boys and is the startpoint for zeroes, so F21 , Tenekan wwas the obvious choice to find the admiral. my first pass was under F21 level and see nothing, but when Im at N of field an zero spotted me and dive to catch me... I choose toavoid fight, becouse xero was not my mission, and (luckly) did a curve to S in direction to F21 and guess? Right there is a big, green, yellow striped wing shiny Betty, just rolling.
100% +wep I had no intention to let him live... besides that that zero that was spotted me tried to shot me down, but (thanks to -exec- DM) I knew that I must "dance" a little if front of him , making him waste ammo... Believe that? it works!!! after some pings he stopped to shot me, and I reach betty, 5-10 m above water.
I sent all I have on it, I saw pieces falling apart, but alemao is veeeery slippery, and I couldnt managed him down... at last in one too-much-low manouvre, I touched sea and finito...

    cc, cfbs, you should :)

One more note for scenario leaders: it is always needed to post spam on ch100 (or ch201) at MA few days before. Some players aren't reading forum or reading only International/General forums. We had to take ~8..10 players from MA just before the scenario start at this scenario.

negative. i was following you from f20 on and climbed a little when i reached f21.
from my point of view, it didn't look like avoiding a fight ;) i was very happy, that you made such a tight turn, so i could shot at you.
in my point of view, your turning gave me a chance to stay closer than d8 and shoot a little more at you.
i saved enough ammo, to shoot over 100 bullets on you, right after you turned behind the g4m. but i was not able to kill you. from there on, i had to "pilot kill" you with small 7mm bursts.
i had the feeling, that you got into a spin at above 100meters. but i just tell you my point of view. i lost the track, because i started later again. (but i did not found any enemy. the kill of mixer was from my first sortie, before he killed -gelo-.

Salute pilots, OP Vengeance made me finally sign up for this forum (this is my 1st post), which I guess is the best proof it was a great event :fly2:

Anyway, just a few comments on what I witnessed:

    - Superb emotions with over half an hour combat duration (from 1st kill till the last): P38's and zeke's in life-to-death struggle, my mates (P38's) falling one by one but making japs pay the price (about 1:1 kill/death till the arrival of Yamamoto, 10 vs 7 overall kills result for japs), nervous search for the general by last, low-fuel P38 survivours and suicidal attacks at him, no matter the cost (wtg for mixer - I saw your one-engine charge at betty with 5 cons on your 6 that decided the outcome of this game).

    - IMHO the distance for P38's was a bit too long to fly: entering combat zone I knew none of us would make it back (we had fuel only for short fight if we wanted to rtb, and none of us would dare getting back to base without killing Yamamoto first :) )

    - I think it's reasonable always getting more pilots than needed for scenarios: out of 15 P38's rolling we were reduced to 10 on entering combat zone (by 33%! )

Big thanks to organizers and pilots, it was great fun.

    Congratulations!!!
I've arrived in the scenario without previous informations about it (I was traveling!) and tryed to organize the fight cover to "Yamamoto" with Alemao helps!
It was very difficult, but after share the groups (group 1/near cover and group 2/high cover) we've had a extra problem: F12 had a enemy CV near and the fuel in this field was limited in 40%. So the "group 2" had to return to f13 to fill up their tanks and the "group 1" was shared in two parts.
For a long time Yamamoto just had the protection of a part of "group 1", but reds didn't know this!!:)
Maletin and Burneau were the leaders of "group 2" and the "group 1" still shared until the end of the scenario. Yamamoto could land in the first field safe, but the same haven't happen in his second objective. :(
Besides the initial mess and one or two warps, the event was very funny and I hope be more efficient in the next one.
Golds, wtg for the efforts. Reds,....go to hell! :D
