Hi guys, thought I would come back here for a second to see if any of you computer wizzes can give me a hand. I have been fighting with my PC for 4 days. it is windows 8.1 64 bit. I was getting a lot of problems and tried to REFRESH it. that didn't work. Then I tried to RESET it using the "completely erase your hard disk and reinstall windows" option. that didn't work either. I want to know how to truly format my C: drive . I went to the dos prompt in windows 8.1 and typed the olde format c:, and hit return.... and it was talking to me like MICROSOFT owns my fuckin computer and is telling me "YOU CAN'T DO THAT" without some sort of administrator "elevated" rights or priveledges. COULD THEY POSSIBLY BE AFRAID I WILL PUT ANOTHER OPERATING SYSTEM ON? ok help guys. please. I want to really truly take my hard drive back to the state it was I when it was new. thanks in advance.
Make a linux live dvd [don't ask me how to do that, find out] Boot to it. Find program called GParted, it should be in your live dvd. If not, you picked the wrong one and need to find another. I recommended Linux Mint, it has GParted in it. Start that software. Go to the device tab and chose to create partition table. And there you go. Bob's yer uncle. And that stuff. cost you about a quarter for a blank dvd. And a little thinking and, if you don't know how to do a low level format what is this I readied about your having been trained on FORTRAN and that sorts of stuff, did you forget your brain or something? Better plan would be for you to hire a guy, in a shop, to do it for you. Money well spent. DON'T bring your live linux to him, he is a dink and doesn't know how to use linux, sort of like you, I mean don't know, I didn't say you are a dink........ don't get sensitive, okay?
Had a feeling you would say something like that.... uhhh. like I was sayin' I just want to get my hard drive back to the state it was in when they built my pc.. Some guy was sayin I just right click start and then click command prompt admin.. and then what? format c:?
If I was to ask what the weather was like in your neighborhood today you would probably include the word Linux in your answer. I am a damn non-nerd that just wants to format my hard drive and do a clean windows install. (yeah the same thing you used to do 15 years ago.)
Acronis? Hahahahaha. Good one. .... you know what I mean. Oh, and mac will argue with you, regardelss, that is why he made this thread so he can tell everyone they are wrong and him being wrong is a better wrong than everyone else. Mac is gonna say, NO, that won't work. I format C:! I weant my PC the way it was, from the factory. But it is arguing with me. And growing an arm there too, HOLY SHIT, Eyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeee.
http://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1008267/ okay, click the link and go half way down the page and there is a red box around some text that says "refresh your pc without affecting your files" okay, not that, just go below and there is another section that says "remove everything and reinstall windows" okay, that is a bullshit lie. I took that route and after a "clean" windows install, my C drive was fragmented at 22%, previously it never went higher that 3% ever. When microsoft says "remove everything" they are full of crap goof
Asus recovery now? Mac, You said you were using Microsoft recovery and restore, now you say Asus? WTF man. Krok, don't waste your time on this guy. No am sane Graoooonkkkkkk. .... Graoooonkkkkkk ..... .... ... Graoooonkkkkkk
Hez, you know when people ask you a skill testing question like 2+3x5=? nevermind blah blah blah blah I don't know how to help you mcloud so I will just say blah blah blah LINUX blah blah blah [DELETED]
Hi ant, hey, I've been trying to get this thing called "Froschschnitzel Fridays" going at the local German club, so far so good, just have to push a little harder.
Asus sells PC with a 'recovery partition' in USA and Canada, no installer DVD. After bringing it home, a user is supposed to create some sort of 'recovery media.' I bet Mac's head began to overheat trying [and failing] to do that. I think he has one of them Asus deals...... I cannot remember, exactly, and am lazy.
Guys I formatted by C: drive a long time ago and did a clean install of windows, everything is fine, thanks for the help. don't need win discs, partitions, recovery media, big pharma or any of that bullshit, blah blah blah blah (doesn't matter if my motherboard is Asus either). %) All I wanted to do was format my hard drive. It's done.
OH NO. SO I can't make fun of you here any more? FCUK! Well, it's been fun [well, not really] Mac, watch out for the fuckin dropCoons. . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . .
