I still believe that through all his faults, he is genuinely trying to do the right thing. I think he has realised that following the US blindly in to Iraq wasnt a good idea, not just politically but also humanely.

He has alot of ass-kissing to do though before I would vote him in again.

Do you even know the reasons America opposed the Kyoto protocoll? No, you don't. I know, the holy "Kyoto" protocoll is a holy grail and one of the flaming swords swung towards the US in Europe. Never mind that America's stand on it was never really published in the Euro media. Never mind that America is the fore-runner concering new, competive and working technologies (which includes alternate energy-gaining concepts) - what was published was just what the Euros made out of it. Just like it is with all the speeches US officials give on matters - they are almost never fully and impartially translated - no, they get "summed up" by the Euro media, which is mostly made up by LEFTISTS. Leftists are the cancer of Europe. Actually, they are the cancer of the world. Because the leftist ideology is contradictionary to actual laws of nature and therefore never worked and will never work. It might seem like it works for some time. But the future onslaught of reality will be respectively brutal as the outcome. What Germany is experiencing today, job shortness, high taxes, big state and welfare state that is running bankcrupt (and foolishy, trying to compensate this by putting taxes even higher, only worsening the situation), non-integrated immigrants with high percentangy of criminal subjects amongst them, inferior education, limited influence/activity in modern AND FUTURE technologies - is nothing but the result of leftist policy for the past decades. Which sounds great on paper, but hits hard in reality. And people still don't get it. Jesus.

We have one liberal party here in Germany, which I would see as the only hope left - the FDP. But this one often has a hard time even just getting over the 5% barrier of votes to be present in the political discourse. Both of the main parties, the SPD and CDU/CSU (=Union) have failed miserably. But when in doubt, people won't vote the FDP. The FDP is considered to be the "company", the "big guys", the "rich guys" party. When in doubt, the Germans rather vote the communist PDS or, just as terrible, right-wing parties like the NPD (which is nothing else than the successor of the NSDAP) or the "Republikaner". They are too fucking stupid to understand. Germany believes and is proud of the history of its unions. Work-Unions (?), "Gewerkschaften". But actually, the quest here is really simple: What we mostly need here in Germany are jobs. WHO IS PROVIDING FUCKING JOBS? Answer, and this is an axiom ANYWHERE in the world: It's NOT the state, it's NOT the taxes, it's NOT the welfare-state, it's by hell NOT the unions, it's NOT laws, it's NOT socialism - those who are providing JOBS are COMPANIES. The BIG , money-grabbing capitalist BIG GUYS. They are the ONLY ones who can provide jobs. And those who start out small to become one of them evil capitalist money-grabbing BIG-GUYS. But the German hate the "Big-Guys". German people still want and will vote for anyone who promises more "fairness". What the hell is social fairness? Taking money from one and giving it to the other? It didn't work that way and never has. For me, fairness means JOBS, and equal chances (if anything the state should take care of and spend welfare on - it must be education). It does not mean transferring money around, which always ends up in miscalculation. Economy should NOT be the business of the state. Economy should be the business of ONLY those who EXECUTE and PRACTISE economy, because this way, economy will naturally develope into prosperation. Free economy is based on competition, and competition encourages developement, and YES, competition developes fairness by nature, because business will only be successfull when based on fair and trust-worthy methods, because fairness SELLS.
A very simplified example here: Take the robber (which for many people is the same as the "evil capitalist") who comes into a free-market oriented country. If he would conduct business in an unfair and robbery-style fashion, either towards his workers or his business partners, or, most importantly, his CUSTOMERS, he will SUCCUMB against those capitalists who conduct their business in a fair and trust-worthy (quality) manner. No one will buy at his store anymore when they feel fooled. NATURAL COMPETITION is what will take care of that. Because the other guy competes with trust-worthy, quality business. And, in the free market, he will win this way over the robber to no end. Competition is based on natural order, on COMMON SENSE, on BASIC NATURAL INSTINCT.

Now, see the robbery-oriented capitalist in a socialist-oriented market, often seen by many as a fair market, because controlled by the state. He, in order to being hold there, will be supported by the state in one way or another. So, he can AFFORD continuing unfair and robbery-oriented business because the state will hold him back from hitting the hard ground of real competition. But people believe it is better when business-men are controlled by the state. Hell, NO! What the state takes care of is nothing else but being re-elected! You guys think most of the politicians are selfish and only dedicated to re-election, by lying to the people? You are right, by God!
But, hell, then you should even more so support capitalism and a free economy. Because THIS is the one concept that is made up and approved BY MAN. BY THE INDIVIDUAL. BY NATURAL LAW. Because in this one, the state plays little to no role at all. And it is GOOD. In a free-market society, he who provides the best, will be successfull. The better, the more successfull. And, because no one has anything other than his own responsibility to rely on (no state-regulations), he must engage in competition and improve himself in order to remain competitive. This is what moves civilization forward. And the worker, who works for those companies, will NOT be fucked up and used up. Because in a free-market, the workers would actually be another GOOD. Not just a cost-factor and a pain. In the ideal free-market world, the worker will also be another factor which brings in MONEY. In an actualy free-market environment, the evil capitalist business-chief could not afford to lose workers. If he puts up unrealistic shedules and time-lines for workers, at first, the business would not work out (because a man can only do what a man can do), and he would LOOSE those workers to the COMPETITION, which then would suck them up to become EVEN BIGGER. Even more COMPETITIVE. Even more SUCCESSFULL. So, a smart business man would never engage in unrealistic, robbery oriented shedules for his workers in the free market, because WORKERS are who keep him GOING, and nothing else - no state, no laws, no nothing. You need no damn unions for that. In a free-market, where the state and social welfare play little to no role, workers actually are a GOOD, not just a cost-factor. When there is no welfare system, workers could not afford to work for a company that provides not enough income so that the worker could take care of his own financial security, like saving money for the time he might get ill or just old, or both. So, a company that would not provide enough income, would not get workers! In the ideal capitalist environment, workers are another GAIN-FACTOR. Because without workers, there will be no business. So, the big evil capitalist company chiefs will PROVIDE that security for their workers, simply in order to GET and HOLD them. Otherwise there WILL BE NO BUSINESS. Other than in a society where people BELIEVE and business men TELL them they can rely on the state to take care of then once ill or old. How about this turns out not to be true? Well, just look at Germany. It is a live and current example of the social-welfare state failing MISERABLY. Take a close look at this one. It is a good lesson for those who still believe in some form of socialism. Socialism is and has always been doomed to succumb because it works contrary to NATURAL LAW given by God or nature, whatever you might want to call it.

P.S. You know, I believe (and I know for a fact, because I know some of them personally), that it was not them Christian fundamentalists who re-elected the evil "George W. Bush", like the Euro Leftist media was busy to protray it. This claim is ridiculous, because cracy Christian fundamentalists are a minority in the US, if you do not count people in who simply believe in God (you should start worrying about yourself when you grant Islamist head-off-cutters more understanding than simple Christians).

I myself am an Atheist, and I still support Bush (though it has no impact, since I'm a German). I believe it was nothing else but common sense that re-elected Bush. You might call them guys from, for example, the Southern States in the US stupid Christian fundamentalists. I call them those guys who still have the biggest grasp on reality, for they shipped over the Atlantic ocean, away from their surpressors of Europe, to gain their freedom, and they who farmed the rocky fields of New England. I believe those guys, maybe not common and skilled in word, if you want to see the typical Pro-Bush "idiot" this way, are way skilled in reality and truth. I believe he who believes in his freedom is the greatest realist of them all. For he understood what life is all about.

    God Bless America.
And God Bless Germany, for she might still have a chance, when even I, who never was anywhere near being rich, and still is not, has got the proper concept. My Mom, who had to take care of us children, since my father, for his own ugly past, ended up being an alcoholic, was never much into policy. So, she also believed in "being for the poor man" and thus voted rather socialist. But, funny and inspiring enough, she did not rely on the "social welfare conecept" the socialist state promised her. Instead, albeit having poor education (she was born 1944), thus not having an easy time to get jobs, she went jobbing (room-cleaning, you know, all that stuff), in order to gain more money and provide my sister and me with better chances and education. To make us COMPETITIVE. SEE? There are many people here who lay back and trust the welfare state. Now getting a rude awaikening. Not so my mother.
I believe she was one of the greatest capitalists this country has seen, no matter she knows that or not.

    Heartc, grow up.

Look at the last 3 years.

Heatwave in Europe, over 5,000 dead (most in France)

Flash Flooding in numerous area's not seen in 100's of years (Heck there was a 9ft flash flood in London this year!)

More Tornado's than ever seen before recorded in the US

    Violent Hurricanes

At the moment one of the US states has declared a state of Emergency due to Extreme Blizzards.

Record numbers of Skin Cancer (Heck they even advise you now NOT to sunbath without at least factor 25 on)

And there's lots more than just the above.

Yes it's going to be hard and difficult but if we don't start thinking about it now what will it be like in 20-30 years???????????

It's not a political issue Heartc more of a survival one.

Wow Heartc, that was one of the most idiotic things I've ever read.

Calling Liberal ideology a cancer is really really sickening. I am liberal myself and got really offended by that. I really don't think that we are a "cancer of the world". I guess not supporting a war for awful causes and disliking scummy politicians over here is no longer a noble thing to do.

The United States works fine in an economic sense by having both the left and the right working together. Blaming your country's economic situation on liberals is a cop out.

It's seriously disgusting that you can think what you think about people just because you're pissed off.

    Get a grip, man.

Everywhere in nature is the fact that for a parent to care for his/her child, he/she must eventually leave the child to care for itself.

In nature exists the right-wing (as far as life philosophy) group of organisms - bacteria. Bacteria are all single-celled, independant organisms. By virtue of the Scaling Laws of physics, bacteria are the most efficient organisms. Bacteria are in fact the most versatile of all living things. Bacteria evolve quicker than any other living thing. Because of this quick evolution (adaptation to change), bacteria are the most successful group of organisms. Many say that human beings are the most successful. However, every place a human being exists, bacteria are present. Bacteria also exist in places humans cannot (volcanoes, deep sea, etc.).

Nature also contains left-wing organisms. Multicellular organisms comprise the "leftist" group of living things. These creatures use multiple cells in concert under the direction of a central authority. The Scaling Laws do not favor "leftist" organisms (a small flea has a much greater proportional jump capacity than a human being). Multicellular organisms, therefore, are more restricted in places of inhabitation, even if these organisms possess the ability to alter the environment. Multicellular organisms are less tolerant to change and are not as efficient as "rightist" organisms.

The basic trend in nature is: "It is better to put on a coat than to heat your entire environment."

Additionally, while human beings may be "socialist" organisms, this concept does not mean that humans cannot organize in a capitalistic manner. In fact, the most efficient lifestyle for socialist beings is orgnanizing in a capitalistic manner.

The members of the GOP (Republican Grand Old Party) in the United States believe in varying degrees that the government should provide only services which the citizens cannot provide (national defence, education, infrastructure, etc.).

China is beginning to realize that to compete with capitalism, a country must take up capitalism. (Europe has still to produce more than two countries with more GDP than the State of California)

And about the war in Iraq. If the United States had no war to fight in Iraq, then there would currently be no war being fought in Iraq.

Average number of vacation days per year:
Italy: 42 days (a three-day weekend almost every week)
    France: 37 days
    Germany: 35 days
    Brazil: 34 days
    U.K.: 28 days
    Canada: 26 days
    Japan: 25 days
    Korea: 25 days
    USA: 13 days

    Source: http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0922052.html

Americans also work longer hours, more days and are unemployed for shorter durations than Europeans. Unemployment has almost always been lower in the United States than in Europe. These factors weigh heavily in favor of the United States's economic position, which is why the USA has the largest GDP and per-capita GDP in the world. The United States has capitalism to thank for its success.

Good point, squirl. However, it still doesn't excuse the attack on liberals. Without monitoring on both parts (right and left) in a government, capitalism will fail, as do all economic or political systems eventually.

I could make the claim that right wingers in the US are the bane of existance for blending religion and government into a convoluted and fucked up system no better than that of the terrorists it claims to be fighting for good. I won't though, because I'm not stupid enough to believe that all right wing ideology is idiotic and all right wingers are slightly retarded.

Who blamed the US ever in this thread, Bizerk?

I'm saying that blaming liberals for all problems is ignorant, and if you buy into that bullshit I can't help but feel sorry for you.

When I was 15 and you went on holiday to the Med putting on Factor 5 was considered more than sufficient. (usually factor 2-3)

No when it gets sunny in the UK you're advised to not put on less than factor 25.............

When my son grows up will his kids have to wear a silver suit to go outdoors in the sun?

Or will we have to move to another country because the parts of the UK will be unliveable? (Flooding in the winter, water shortages in the summer)
