Hi everyone, Evaluating the TAIC reports, I wondered which Japanese bomber to add. It should be one that gives new capabilities to the Japanese. I consider only the following models interesting: * B6N (Jill) - significant improvement over B5N (Kate). Easy conversion of 3D model. * Ki-67 (Peggy) - significant improvment over G4M (Betty). Bomb load almost the same, but better performance. * H8K (Emily) - Giant flying boat, the only real heavy bomber the Japanese had. Problem with the K8N: We can't do flying boats :-( However, ALL Japanese landplane bombers have a bomb load no better than the G4M's. Alternative: * G5N (Liz) - Japanese 4-engined landplane bomber, only 5 prototypes. The Liz has a 3200 kg maximum bomb load and is in the Ju 88/DB-3F class. It's a development of the DC-4 civil transport and didn't make it into service because its performance was too low for such an expensive plane. The Liz is not a science-fiction plane and it is not a wonder plane. It's the worst 4-engined bomber in the game. I only suggest it because we can't include the H8K, and the "Japanese" players should have a "heavy" bomber (even if it's only a medium). Regards, Henning (HoHun)
B6N would be great! nice if its possible 8x 100kg... AND... H8K: G5N: I would vote for H8K and its 8x250kg load... but, due hard work to make the model, mb G5N (morphing one of existent models) would be easy to add sooner...
Not to be a nattering nabob of negativity, but I dont think any of those aircraft you add much new tactical ability to the gold planeset (unless G5N opens the door for Do335). My suggestion would be for an Italian bomber, SM79 or Z1007, both with bomb carrying capacity near Ju88's, twin torps, 12mm defensive guns & both on active service in 1940. Ki-46 could be fairly untouchable if it were ever used other that as a recon plane, but I've never heard of that
Hi Roland, >My suggestion would be for an Italian bomber Sorry, I'm looking for Japanese bombers only! >Ki-46 could be fairly untouchable if it were ever used other that as a recon plane, but I've never heard of that Your are right, that's just what I had been thinking, too! A possible fast bomber candidate would be the Yokusuka P1Y, but it's actually no faster than the Nakajima Ki-67 which is fully armed. So I decided the Ki-67 would be the better addition! Regards, Henning (HoHun)
Yes, but after all the dev's hard work, would it be used or would everyone pick the Ju88s-1 with the higher speed & bigger payload?
Hi Roland, >Yes, but after all the dev's hard work, would it be used or would everyone pick the Ju88s-1 with the higher speed & bigger payload? The Japanese had no Ju 88S-1, so the Japanese players won't have that choice Regards, Henning (HoHun)
Yes, that are a few Japanese only squads & they one fly available Japanese planes. Guess why there are no Italian squads (¦¬?)
800kg of B6N means 1x800kg, not 8x100kg. also, i never heard about IJN 100kgGPB calibre. it seems to me that load of B6N is equal to B5N's one: 1*800kg 1*500kg 3*250kg and some quantity of 50kg (see B5N2), that i cannot recall now.
So This link has some options: http://www.combinedfleet.com/ijna/ijnaf.htm I vote to P1Y series (with option to do a fighter version) Other links http://www.warbirdsresourcegroup.org/IJARG/jpbmbrs.html http://www.diggerhistory.info/pages-air-support/ww2-enemy/sally.htm
No japanese army bombers in FH. Ki.21 & Ki.49 IMO likely would do more in the early RPS than a later bomber would do against the tougher fighter competition. G3M is nice too, with a 20mm turret gun.
I vote to Yokosuka D4Y Suisei "Comet" http://www.studenten.net/customasp/axl/profile.asp?cat_id=10&ple_id=383 More options: * Mitsubishi Ki-67 Hiryu "Peggy" * Mitsubishi Ki-49 Donryu "Helen" http://www.enter.net/~rocketeer/13thjbdata.html
Its a dive bomber, what good is a torpedo? 560 kg in FH translates to 1 x 500kg + 2 x 50kg, as good a bomb load as any carrier divebomber in FH.
