Won't get a reply in Bugs I bet

    Problem: I get the message: "cannot resolve IP address of host: wb.chph.ras.ru" I downloaded the host file which normally would solve this (unless my memory fails me)
    but apparently it's something glitchy with XP coz problem still isn't solved, it worked that way on my old win 98 SE puter... but with XP it just doesn't work...

    anyone has some advice?

    In XP the hosts file goes in a different place. Put it in:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\divers\etc

    let me know....

    hi beerme,

    only in case, someone will use the string for search:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

    is the path for the folder, where the hosts -file should be stored under windows xp (even strange enough, what ms-crew might have thought by that "...drivers\etc :) )
