    Re: p-38 lightning

    Is this what you mean?

    - point nose straight up and wait for airspeed to decrease to pretty much nothing
    - idle throttle
    - full rudder left or right
    - P-38 drops nose in half a second and points straight down

I'm asking because I'm not totally sure what a hammerhead really is. I've heard the term tossed around a lot but I've never gotten a comprehensive explanation.

    reflections

i dont know about rudder (which also is awesome at low speed btw)

but if you point the nose straight up until u have almost no airspeed and then pull all the way back (or forward) it noses over like nothin else

u can do it at full throttle easily too (i dont know how it changes things)

i thought it was pretty cool

    edit:

imo, "hammerhead" is about the claw part of the hammer

u fly up the "handle" and reduce speed, and turn at the top like the claw curves away from the handle

Gandhi -the bug abuser found new bug to exploit-P-38s pitch
at low speeds) God help us all )

BTW, i have never used rudder during hammerhead, most of time plane
would have just flipped at very low speeds...it helps if u add throttle during
its flip...second variant that i am aware of would be full throttle zoom
at 90 angle ,after which plane enters some kind of spin and flips to nose
low position, again without rudder usage..

P.S. WHAT P-38S PITCH HAS TO DO WITH XEXEUU THE BEST BOMBER ?
gandhi could have posted it with his thread of stooopide arabese ppl,
    i wouldnt care..

P.S. 2. Anting, actually i believe then while going straight up ,at some point when u would cut ur throttle,u should in fact cut engine out,not throttle...
I believe ( im not sure) that cutting throttle creates new force that can only ruin ur hammerh. ( on google u can find videos about real hmrh.)

    Re: reflections

Okay, I've played around a bit with this (the maneuver ... not the hammer :p), and I find that while pushing the nose down works too, using rudder causes the plane to drop its nose even faster (nearly instantly!).
I plan to put this new-found knowledge to use in the arena (I hope it doesn't count as bug abuse :p).

Why? No one will follow your (extending) plane to 35000ft anyway.....

hehe ant you were always a big target at the end of your zoom-up, too bad the zooooooom is so long one can barely follow you that high :p

but when someone actually can, mincemeat :p

Then we shall both go in a ball of fire, guns ablaze as my plane is falling down on you. :turret: A fitting end for two warriors of the skies ... >8^)

P.S. Yeah I know ... once the Ki-84, 109G14/K4 and 190D9 are out, zoom time is over. :shuffle:
