Looseleaf listen, I agree with you but round against round a 20mm vs a 12mm/.50 cal round the 20mm is better for immediate destruction. I would say 3 12mm/.50 caliber rounds would do more damage than a single 20mm round. Point is you have 3 chances for major damage from 3 12mm as to the single 20mm round. Also the 12mm/.50 cal round carrys on through from its initial point of entry. here one hit .50 in a propane tank. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1s7iEY4UZU I think alot of A6M zero zekes ended like the propane tank did in RL. M2 .50 in a truck filled with dirt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8imIgaFTfLI&mode=related&search=
Please do not feel sorry. I do understand those graphs and all the technical data. I just asked if there should be a 4th choice. There seemed to be the woodpecker option for almost every other poll.
There are several flaws with that statistic. One, the number of Luftwaffe aircraft compared to Allied aircraft is quite low. Second, the americans had the .50 cal M2 on EVERYTHING. Third, the Axis never really got the 20mm cannon round quite right. The fuses had way too much delay in the beginning and started to get better towards the end. Fourth, just out of curiousity, why in the hell did the British turn to the TWENTY MILLIMETER Hispano to arm their late war fighters? Please give me back my 20mm and tone down the 12mm a bit, mumble
