    1)
    Your comment?

    2)
So is that capitalism? State owned company buys planes and then tranfers into many privately owned companies? Damn, there has be a good "oiling of the wheels"....someone's making a good profit for sure, but obviously thats part of the capitalism...

@afi: I prefer beer from the tonnel to my mouth. Insert that can or bottle up your ass. Why sell it in 33cl recipient when you can drink from a 50Liters one?

Rueben, I don't think what each country pays in taxes really counts. For example ok you pay higher taxes than I do but your quality of life and cost of living is lower than mine (although beer costs more over there). So it balances out.

I know this because my assistant is marrying a girl from Sweden and flies over there every weekend to be with her (and he's buying a place there) and he's worked it all out and it's going to cost him the same as settling down here as it is to live there (but he says it's better over there cos London is a shitty, dirty, crowded place to live)

It's not a problem of efficiency, it's a matter of quality. Refermentation is possible only in bottle so the beer taste can evolve through months and even years, of course if the content has been conceived as a quality product. Cans can only be used for cheap industrial beers filtered and pasteurized, made for the masses and not for the people (few exceptions). Drink less cans and more good bottles.

    Agreed.

I've had a few canned beers that are good. Right now, though, I'm drinking Sam Adams Boston Lager... mmmm so good.

Somehow I do believe that living in Sweden is more expensive than in England. But maybe, perhaps it's the fact that Sweden don't use ?uros..

And so you're gonna need a new assistant. When do I start? :D

This is not the same as a government actively participating. Any country benefits from open business.

In a capitalist country, the government is free to respond to the economic policies of other countries. Take the opening of Japan to the West in the 1800's for example:

The opening of Japan to trade coincided with "peace and friendship between the United States and Japan."

The same is happening now: India is opening its doors to American trade. Relations between the two countries are certainly bound to improve as well, and this improvement in relations does not demonstrate government intervention in the Boeing deal.

Now compare the US and France's intervention on the deal:
    1. The US government said that relations would improve if India opened the door wider for American trade.
    2. The French government actively lobbied on behalf of a French company.

You make the assumption that Air India is transferring the planes to privately-owned companies. That is an assumption that is not true.

Days before Air India?s April board meeting, U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta visited New Delhi and said relations between Washington, D.C., and New Delhi would benefit if Boeing got the order.

That is so GROSS! Its even CRACKING!

Boroda, did you see it? Thats a good LAUGH!
It is really impossible to reach such refinement as they do!

I saw some other vid too which shows steep climb just after takeoff and then dropping nose down and maneuvering in dive. Anyone has that one? Quite interesting for such a big plane. I'd like to find it again.

Grobar, did you read the rest of my post?

If the United States entirely shut down its trade with Europe do you think that Europe would be happy with the US?

    No!

Supporting the commerce of a country is a goodwill gesture. Air India is probably not buying the planes only to send a message of good will, but as the Transportation Secretary said, it is a side-effect of the order.
