similiar like -frog- - i've bought "Gambler" Magazine (there was a "Harpoon 97" on CD! and additionally Warbirds), many many hours offline, and in 2000 or 2001 i've started to fly at tenbit and later grajmy.com servers. When both of these died all pilots moved to FH. Our leader - Wimp formed White Eagles Sqn and we were flying in it for some time. Later WES and PFT formed 303rd. now we rule :)

A long time ago, in a faraway place...
Around 96-97 or something when I got my first 56Kmodem I found IEN by accident.
Dl'ed, played a bit tried online for 2 weeks, then never more. I can't remember the cost back then but it was unacceptable for my economy.

When I got the DSL a year ago or sth, I decided to try and find something similar, and googled for "Warbirds". 6th entry is WBFreeHost :D

And now I'm here. Getting spanked by most people but actually hitting something from time to time :D.

    TÖRNSKATA!

In the beginning of 1996 I was playing Air Warrior (nick earp) when everybody and his dog started moving to Warbirds. Got a little pissed at first but then tried the game and became immediately fascinated. I star flying it that DOS version (does the word ?pizza? means something to you?) and only pulled the plug in 2002 with the WB3 fiasco, but still miss the S3.

I?ve been in FH since the very beginning (I think) and my squad even had a free host version to play in our annual meetings. Imho this is the best version WB ever had and I think this is a good moment to congratulate and say thanks to the developers for they hard work.

I started playing Janes WWII Fighters on the Janes Combat Net in 2000. In April 2001 I joined the 312 Czechoslovak Sqn RAF. When Janes shut down their servers the squadron moved over to Hyperlobby. In late 2001 it appeared that the interest in Janes WWII Fighters was fading fast. The squadron founders (Katoo, Redbull, and Mavo) had been checking out FH, so in late 2001, early 2002 the squadron transitioned to Warbirds on FH.

i was searching for free porn , typed in google words like "fuck" , "bitch" "whore" , and this forum showed up :D ;)

serious: when i got my cable internet back in 99' i wanted to play something online, was interested in smth like quake or starcraft, but then i found some website called "tenbit.pl" and i saw they have few games to play online. So i tried the WarBirds , i've played on polish servers , and when they stopped hosting the game some guys from I-st Polish WBFH server told me about this server. So i went online. The first thing that caught my eye was the number of players online, it was above 100! So i've logged in etc. etc. .. i remeber the first squad i've been to was the AFVS , my first ever kill was on someone from the Sibeerians :D .

i never thought being interested on flightsims, a friend shows me falcon 4 in 1999 and i played it a little. i started warbirds 2000 during another friend shows me the free german server, but that one closed. i heard about a free server, used google and found fh. i tried out wb3, il2 and several actual flightsims too but fh was always on my side, it is the best flightsim i know...

Back in 2001 i was a huge fan of BeOS (an operative system) and I had a friend in Paraguay who was an editor for a local computer magazine. He wrote a very interesting article about BeOS so I asked him to send me an issue. The magazine came with a CD, which had many stuff but what caught my attention was this game "WarBirds" and some videos of a guy showing basic flight.
I saw that in order to fly online i had to pay, so I started looking for free servers to connect or another similar game with free servers. So that's how I ended here :)

    Hi!
    Cool thread!
    Kutya has sense of humour?

My first sim was one of my first games - in 94 I was going saturdays to my fathers work in university to play on his new 486 they got with the money for selling cold war-era compounds to western companies like sigma-alsdrich. It had 3D tetris, Wolfenstein, The Three Vikings (i never passed the last level, still remember the password though - MSTR), Civilization and Chuck Yeager`s Air Combat. Quite a change from the earlier Pravetz 16 (a bulgarian 80186 clone or something) with B&green screen.
An year later we bought 486 at home for 1000$ taken from the deep reserves. Which is a good thing because another year later the bank system crumbled and we lost all other savings for a larger appartment.

Anyway, in 1998 i got some greek discs from a friend with demos and free games and on it was WB. I played for some time offline as we didnt have internet back then. I started nagging about Internet then. In 1999 my sister who was now PhD student in Ireland = was rich :) bought me a modem for about 50$ i think. I started playing on Wally`s H2H ladder. My first fight was against one serbian guy -goki- with whom I have no more contact. :(
A few months later - in February or March he told me under secret about FH. I brought along a lot of my new online friends like illo and fla and we made the Bake & Toast`em, Fry & Roast`em (quote from The Hobbit) squad. In September 2000 it got dissolved after illo left and some of us created Axis Foreign Volunteers Squadron.
AFVS is now quite old, most people busy in RL, others left for more active squads like JG-13. I gradually stopped playing about 2002 too pressed by University and party-life.
But we still keep in touch and last week had great time in the Netherlands hosted by sebbo!
