How to make aircraft cockpit and plane models ?

Hmmm, i have time to spare, and there are some planes i would like to see in the arena. how could i help airplane developing ?

I am bootlegging a version of Autocad that I know how to use (version eleven: kind of shows how backward I am.... old age, sigh).
I am hoping to make some 3d drawings. I know bugger all about this and even if it is not translatable, I may still have some nice three dee models...
